Lost weight, old clothes don't fit

I'm currently at a weight that I last had when I started university. During my masters I was about 4-5kg heavier, and then gained some more when I started working. Anyway, during my Masters I bought some suit trousers that fitted well. I haven't worn them in years as they were too small. Now they fit again... kind of. They end at the hips (yes, that was fashionable back then) and they seem somewhat tight there.

I suppose my pelvis did get wider as I got older. The only thing I can imagine is that the padding distribution changed or that I gained more muscles on my derriere.

Anyone experienced something similar?

Or you've just not lost enough weight in that spot for the pants to fit properly.

Yes, that's what I'm wondering. I'd think I lose the padding where I gained it in the first place. But apparently not?

My old bras fit again, my upper body was always rather bony. My problem was always my thighs, and to a certain extend upper arms and hips. I can't say that my tighs have gotten small, though they certainly got smaller :)

Btw, when I was lighter I didn't do any sport.

Similar stuff has happened with me.When I was this weight 5 / 6 years ago,I had a smaller bust and bigger waist. Now,I haven't lost that much around my bust and have a smaller waist (not really complaining  )..So I guess the body shape can change.

Your age will make a lot of difference in this, I have no idea how old you are. When I was young, up to like 30, I was all hip and butt. Over 30 I started collecting ab fat, and now that I am 40 I am between an avocado and apple. I was always a pear shape when I was younger. Things shift as we age and our activities change and we use one muscle group more than another. I have always had big thighs, but I swear they leaned out when I was running consistently and now they have fattened back up as I am not. Or bodies are in flux all the time and sometimes we just don't get it.

I've always been hourglass...I've just lost 40lbs which takes me back down to the weight I was on my wedding day ..in the 15 intervening years I've had 2 children and entered my 40s...in the last 6 months I've been seeing a personal trainer and been doing strength work

My slinky, figure skimming wedding dress fits my boobs and skims my waist but is a little surprisingly loose on my hips

I think perhaps it all changes with age, life experiences and workout programmes tbh

EVERYTHING changes as we get older, in my case it's called, "Gravity has set in".

Thanks all! I find this really interesting. I think my bust might have gotten a little bit smaller. I fitted a lovely dress dress today that I bought ages ago and never wore as it was just slightly tight there. Then it got too tight everywhere  Now it fits. I'm happy, and so is my husband

Yes I had that happen a lot as I have thyroid problems so I've had extreme gain/weight loss over the years. As you age you're body does shift and things fit you differently over time. I did buy two simple but well made maxi skirts in my late 20's (now I'm almost 50) and because they are plain black with elastic waists, they fit just like they used to. They actually are the only item that aged well with me everything else I had to dump out or save as a measuring tool to compare my weight over time.

I have lost a lot of weight off my top and off my "love handles" but the pooch in the front hasn't budged. I know this because my measurements in that area are only a half a inch different than when i started. so my pants still fit the same in the front, but not at the sides. lol. Some people can lose inches quick off their stomach, and others don't. I am down 33lbs and still have to wear the same size jeans (with a belt) but have went from a extra large to a medium top.

I've found that as the weight comes off, more remains on my abdomen. Shorts that used to fit beautifully cannot be worn until my waist fits into them, at which point they're way too big in the butt and thighs.

Old ladies frequently complain about how weight shifts around, making them fatter in different areas. It happens. It may not be a result of gaining and losing and may just be typical, age-related changes.

Yeah, I have to pour my boobs into my bras now, like soup.

I never had an issue with belly fat in the past, and now that's where I carry the majority of my weight. I've had several abdominal surgeries, too - which doesn't help.

As an old lady I can confirm that weight shifts around lol. My too-flat-butt made me hit the gym so some of the shift has been a motivation plus.

I must say the opposite happened. I am about the same weight again like 8 years ago, which unfortunately means I gained, but I am much smaller. Back then it was about size XL to XXL, now I still have size L. Guess not all the weight I gained this time is fat.

Your weight distribution does change some as the years go by. That's normal. If you can't wear those clothes, it all depends on finances... buy new or hit the thrift shops like I do and be choosy... you can find almost new, or even new with the tags on, clothes for like $3 and $6. Nice stuff is out there too.

lol and YES about the abdominal surgery. I've had it 3 times and each time my belly expanded an inch! booo! cutting through those abs, it changes your shape forever!
