Lately I've been using the app to track how many calories I consume each day. I've set my desired calorie amount to 1200 but I'm realizing it's easier said than done. I'm either under or over 1200 and quite honestly it's bugging me. On top of that I've been dealing with body image issues and haven't felt like I'm thin enough.
I have attempted to get back to working out but there is a lack of motivation. A lack of motivation because working out by myself is lonely. A lack of motivation because I'm usually tired when it comes time to work out (more or less at night).
I know those are terrible excuses, but I can't help it.
Lately I've been toying with the idea of having an eating disorder at this point, I'm completely fed up.

If you think you have an eating disorder, then you need to speak with a professional0

Give your head a shake....... Pull it together and you can do this.0

You can't always eat exactly your goal. And you want to lose 10lbs, so eating 1200 calories is likely a stupid idea. set your goal to 0.5lbs/week. This will likely help with your energy as well.0

You're probably hungry. Go calculate your TDEE and shoot for a 10% reduction.0

What she said. There are calculators online that will help with this.
If you are too tired to exercise then try getting up earlier (this is coming from someone who is NOT a morning person, I hate getting up) it feels better to have it over an done with rather than hanging over your head all day.
As for not exercising alone have a look at your local gym, most are pretty reasonably priced if you don't go in for any extras (personal training, crossfit, bootcamp etc) do the classes that are free (most gyms that I have been to have an early class each day that starts at 6am giving you enough time to then get dressed groomed and to work - especially if you get a gym right by work). If you can't afford the gym look at getting audio books to help. I find it almost impossible to run to music - i know it motivates allot of people but it just doesn't work for me. But a great audio book and I'm all set, especially if I am strict with myself and ONLY listen to it while exercising.0 -
I was 1199 one day, and like 1203 or 1207 another, but don't think I've ever been 1200 exactly.
You don't need an excuse to skip exercise. It's not required. "I don't want to exercise" is a good enough reason.
People who think they might have an ED almost always do. Sadly, they never seek help until they're sure, at which point they're in way too deep to get out easily.
I'm always comparing it to alcoholism, which is probably wrong because they're different, but those two groups have so many similarities. Alcoholics think they might be drinking too much, but know they could quit if they wanted to. By the time they want to, they're usually in really deep and need help. Same deal with the ED crowd.
All of them could have quit if they'd stopped early on.
Seek some help. EDs ruin lives. If you find out you don't have one, great! No harm done! If you find out you may have some disordered issues, you can work on them now, before you lose your friends, job, health and mind.
There are therapists who specialize in eating disorders. If you're in school, maybe the school could recommend one. If not, your doctor should be able to refer you to one. Worst case scenario, you get to be secure about your eating habits.

Right now I weigh about 120 lbs (21.9 BMI). I know that's not really fat, but apparently my mother thinks so, and she is another reason why I feel I'm not thin enough. It sounds harsh, but it's true.
On the flip side, should I just focus on losing weight or re-defining?0 -
If I learned anything growing up, it's not to listen to my mother. LOL
Focus on recomp. Lift heavy things and not only will you look better, you'll feel better too. And tell your mom to stuff a sock in it. Negativity is the last thing a young woman needs from someone so close and in such a tender position. The world is ugly enough without *kitten* like this.0 -
working out by myself is my "me time." but i know what you mean. i often work out with a partner or in a group. it has it's benefits, but it's not always necessary. and it can be aggravating if you and the partner are not on the same page.
i understand you as far as being tired for the gym. i used to never go, until i started making it the first thing i did in the morning. if that isn't a possibility for you, set yourself up to get a boost of energy an hour or 90 minutes before you're going to go to the gym. what i mean is, have some coffee or energy drink 60-90 minutes before you are going to the gym. have some sugary snacks (i like apples). bring your gym clothes with you and get changed at work if you can and don't go home, as i find that i'll seldom work out at night if i've already gotten home and sat down.0
