Awesome NSV: My first 5K

I believe this is NSV worthy. I ran my first ever 5K yesterday and not only did I finish, I finished strong...in an all out sprint towards the finish. I've been working hard on my training runs for the last 9 weeks using C25K. My goals were to finish in less than 50 minutes, run through all mile markers, and to run more than I walked.

I ran for 2.75 miles, hit each mile marker in full stride, and finished in at 45 minutes. That put my average mile at 14.33 which is a huge accomplishment. I started out not being able to run to the end of block to averaging 21 minute miles to completing a 5k all this year.

As soon as I got home I started looking for more 5Ks in my area. My goal is to run one a month. I loved it that much!

Here's a pic of me after I finished. I'm not quite sure about what pose I'm going for but I can safely say I'm hooked.

Awesome!!! Congrats. That is a really great time. I started the same way a year ago, and have since then and ran in a total of 4 5k's and had the oppritunity to go on a 5 mile run with olympian, (and my favorite runner ever) Ryan Hall and his marathon running wife, Sara. I also completed my first half marathon in February. I am also hooked, even thought I recently reached a point where I lost my motivation for running and have lost some of my endurance. I'm starting a new program tonight and will get back on track
