I've made better progress tghan I thought I would over the last few weeks. I'm 12 lbs down of the 20 I figured my body could handle (I think I can go a little further and still be healthy, but I digress). Any way, I'm starting to get seriously discouraged. A work out that I used to do with far less effort is now yeilding a far lower calorie burn with more effort (per my hrm). Where as I used to get a burn of over 800 caloried in a it get it. I'm lifting far more weight than I ever have before in my body pump class (squatted 50 lbs today, benched 25, which I'm crapping out on) and still my burn went down another 50 or 75 calories since resetting my hrm to 141, my most recent weight. Ahhhh. Just needed to vent that, thanks!

  • Dont be discouraged =) Just remember that muscle burns more calories than fat! So instead of you burning more calories at the machine you are burning more calories all the time.

It's sucks but our bodies are an amazing creation and adapt to any and all stresses we put on it. Becoming more efficient and burning less cals. Bats why changing up your routine is so important, do something new that your body is not used too. Change the routine change the body:)

Yup. It happens. It's happening to me now. The only "unwanted result" from being healthier and more fit is that you burn less calories performing routines. It's not so discouraging as much as it is motivating for me to perform harder and better with efficiency.

Thanks guys. Yeah, it's not a matter of always doing the same thing. I do a variety of group fit classes, run, and then try to find something else fun to throw in there from time to time. It's just a matter of efficiency. It's just a crazy amount of frustration.
