Hi all,
a question for all MFP members - should we track the calories spent during strength / weight workouts? Does anyone do it? If so, how?

Suggestions and thoughts needed.

Cheers,

You can find strength training under the cardio section. Personally, I don't track them.

I track these calories...but only when I wear a heart rate monitor. In a good leg workout, I can burn 250-300 calories in 30-40 minutes. Upper body is usually 150 in 30 minutes. I think unless you have a HRM you probably wont know exactly how many calories you burned...

I do track calories burned during my weight lifting and strength training exercises. A Heart Rate Monitor is a great tool to have for things like this. If you don't have one already, I highly recommend getting one. There is also a listing under the cardio workout section here for stength training that can help you estimate calories burned until you can get a more accurate calculator.

    Thanx for your thoughts.

I think I shd too...I have been working out regularly for abt 5-6 weeks now...though wt has not gone down significantly, I can feel the overall difference....in my measurements as well as the improved stamina..

So, I think that if I can track teh calories better, I can eat them back (to supply back those carbs and some more protiens...)...

I need to get a good HRM now...task for this weekend...

    Thanx a lot again...
