Ok so I work out on the elliptical for 60 mins. Acording to the machine I burned 600 calories. Although when I go through the website tracker is says 60 mins is equal to about 984 calories. Which should I use? THANKS

Neither is totally accurate but it's pretty widely accepted that MFP overestimates.... I'd use what the machine told you.
  • MFP bases the calories you burn on your weight and whatnot--the elliptical probably doesn't calculate that in. The more you weigh, the more calories you have to burn to move. If there's more of you, then your body has to use more energy.

i agree..its safer to go with the lower guess.
  • I would go with what the machine says as MFP is known to greatly overestimate the calories spent. When you get on the machine, input how much you weigh and your age and it will give you a more accurate calorie count. Don't go by the MFP numbers...they are much too high!
