The title says it all. I just want to know what kind of small snacks/meals that are HIGH IN PROTEIN that I can prepare quickly (20 minutes or less, or a batch at the beginning of the week) and bring with me when I'm out and about all day. I would prefer it if not all of the food had to be cooled for more than five or six hours since I use the bus as transportation and thus have no access to a fridge.

All I can think of is jerky and hard-boiled eggs.

Anything that's pickled will hold up well for a while without a fridge.

A long time ago i used to freeze meals ahead like microwave meals and by the time i could eat lunch (about 6 hours later) they were thawed but held up well.

I prefer my quick meals deity-free, but to each their own, I guess.

You can get lunch boxes that you freeze the lid in the freezer and then they will keep you lunch fresh for several hours. Example are frozzypack lunchbox. Worth looking into.

Loaves and Fishes was a great answers..on a more serious note, Jerky is great. If not that, if you know it's going to be a while you can freeze the yogurts that come in the little squeezable packages. Grab one and go...in about 3-5 hrs they thaw and taste just like they do out of the fridge.

A little sauteed heart in cumin, paired with rice and beans.
    BOOM.

Take the power of the fallen, and really amp your protein intake with a good dose of iron.

I forgot about yogurt! I used to freeze the regular containers, when it thaws you just have to stir it quite a bit.

    Ha, the typo is awesome.

Edamame is a good option as well (I get it pre-shelled). There's also protein bars, and I second the jerky. Nuts aren't horrible, but they're not the best source of protein. String cheese can last a while without refrigeration, but I'd make it more of a morning snack versus an afternoon snack just so it isn't warm quite so long.

I like to make a batch of 12 egg muffins on Sunday for the week ahead. Just whip 6 eggs and add whatever veggies/protein/cheese you like to mix (or have on hand) and pour evenly across 12 muffin tins. Bake at 350 for about 20 min. They freeze nicely and make a great breakfast on the go.

The best part of the typo is that in the first line of the post, the OP says, "the title says it all".

I will take a side of irony with whatever I eat on my God...
