Hammer Strength Machines - work both sides together or one at a time?

Curious..when you guys/gals are working out on Hammer Strength machines…do you use the machine so that you lift both sides together or do you do one at a time or mix it up? I usually do one side at a time but noted that many (most?) people seem to do both together.

Sometimes (b/c of my short arms), I can't do both sides at the same time. For example; on the iso row machine to use a pronated grip (I think that's the right term), I have to use my free hand to help reach the handle. Does that make sense? I'd do both sides at once if possible.

I like to do one at a time....I prefer unilateral exercises whenever I can because I find that I quickly develop asymmetric strength- right side is always stronger than left side. If I do bilateral workouts, I find that my right side gains strength/mass at a disproportionate rate when compare to my left side- I attribute this to the right side doing more work since its already stronger. So I definitely prefer unilateral exercises but sometimes for time purposes I'll work both sides at the same time.
