Hi all, I'm getting dinner from a fish and chip shop tomorrow (long story and not my choice). I am hoping for some advice about the healthiest option. I've narrowed it down to a small portion of fish and chips, fishcake and small chips or half chicken and small chips. its not possible to get an exact calorie count without weighing the portions but what does everyone think will be the lowest calorie option?.

Personally I would leave out a few things but not everything.

Like - go for non-battered fish instead of battered or coated - grilled is the best option
    - leave out mayo or other creamy dressings, but instead go for fresh squeezed lemon or ask for the creamy dressings on the side to add your own amount
    - i would get chips/fries but also order cole slaw and eat that before the chips/fries
    - i love fish tacos and if i order a few, i eat one "normal" then i will often just eat the insides and leave the taco for the last one
    - i would skip a fishcake, they will most likely have some kind of binding to it which would add calories

fish is a relatively healthy low calorie food. if you can't get fish without a coating, take the coating off and just eat the fish. or, just eat it as is and enjoy it :)

How often do you do this? Assuming it's a one off, just get what you want, enjoy it, log it (a guestimate will do) and move on.

Small portion of fish and chips - OAP portion, if they do them where you are, should be perfect. I have this quite often and I log at at about 800 cals. It has never stalled my weight loss.
