I've just finished my fall classes and have 28 days until spring semester starts in January. I hope to put a real dent in my weight loss over the next month since I can dedicate much more time than usual and won't need to have as much energy as usual. I hope to lose 20 pounds during this time. That will bring me to about 50 pounds lost since the end of August. I will have lost all the weight I gained in the last three years. Is this goal possible?

Not really. Does it sound like a reasonable goal to you?"

So you intend to lose more than half the weight you lost in 4 months in 1 month? How logical does that sound?

You didn't gain that in a month, why expect to lose it so quickly???

Possible - possibly, dependent on current weight and intense calorie restriction

    Healthy - nope

    Sane - nope

    Sensible - nope

Something you should do - nope

    Long-term effective - nope

Hope that helps clears it up

If you weigh 400 pounds that would be feasible. Otherwise...just stick with a healthy deficit.

How about a goal of losing 10 lbs? 2.5 a week
or 5 lbs since it is Christmas? Yes take the time and really ramp up your exercise and you will then be set to continue your slow losing in the next term.

I think you should go with a healthier goal, and one where you won't end up gaining it right back. I once lost 26 lbs in a month, and it felt great to say that, but within a couple of months I had gained most of it back. Slow and steady wins the race.... I'm trying to remember that myself and do it too! My goal is 10 lbs this month. Down 4. 6 to go. Christmas is seriously going to get in the way :(
