Cardio? or Toning? Whats more important?

Both are of equal importance! Cardio will lose the fat, weights will keep the skin firm by holding onto the muscle.0

Cardio everytime. You will get the tone with this anyway and you will increase your level of fitness/metabilism etc etc. Don't forget Cardio is best done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to burn your Body fat0

You will lose more fat doing cardio but cardio also burns away muscle, so the OP should incorporate both Cardio and strength training. That way at your goal weight you wont be the dreaded skinny-fat (thin with a high BF%)0 -
Both are important. You can tone all you want but if you have excess fat over your sculpted physique, you will not get the look you want. If you do cardio you will lose fat but you may also lose muscle mass. The benefit of weights is you will gain muscle which will burn more calories at rest. Cardio will keep you physically fit, keep your heart & lungs healthier and help get rid of bulge faster.0

I'm only a few pounds from my goal weight so I focus on toning BUT I still get my cardio in (2 miles every morning). Both are important if you want that bikini body!0

Both are important. I do both at almost every workout, 30 minutes of each unless I am dong a longer run then I just do the run and a good amount of stretching. You don't want to be a flabby skinny chick. You also don't have to look like a body builder and most likely won't unless you are really trying to. I have noticed that with increased cardio my stamina is better, but with adding the weight training I have lost major inches.0

I like to alternate days of cardio and weights so I do 3 routines of each during the week and one rest day. Both are important just like eating a healthy, balanced diet. You need to have all of the above in your fight against body fat if you want to win. :bigsmile:0

lifting weights.
you can get a killer body without cardio if your diet is right.
You can't get an awesome one without weight training.
Honestly it's best to do both, but if you're asking either/or then thats the answer.0 -
Resistance Training/Weights.
Cardio is for heart health NOT for fat loss.
My transformation was purely from weight lifting. I had a knee injury that kept me from being able to do regular cardio so as you can see from my pics, resistance training is the ultimate tool for fat loss not cardio. There are many studies to support this. When I find the studies, I will post the link to this thread so people can make their own decision.0 -
