I had been very ill for over two years and finally was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I thought I would feel ill forever, but then I did research and realized that how I was eating and what I was eating was contributing to my illness. I researched the very best foods I could eat for my health and immune system and created a food list. MyFitnessPal helped me change my eating habits and holds me accountable for what I eat. I have lost 21 lbs. and feel better than I have felt in 5 years. My Chronic Fatigue is gone!

I have CFS too. Congratulations on your improvement and success. I hope you know that you have not rid yourself of the condition and that it flares and remits. I also hope you know that while it is possible for some people to maximize how good they feel with diet and exercise, it's not true for all CFS sufferers.

I had glandular fever last year and have suffered with post-viral fatigue. Whilst it's not too bad at the moment, I definitely get relapses. I would say that whilst I don't feel too bad a good diet does help me feel more energised. However, the spells of fatigue are not caused by anything, they happen randomnly, regardless of whether I eat well, and in these times I need SUGAR to get me through, otherwise I fall asleep.

That is awesome. There are some out there that think ones diet can be changed to fix a lot of health issues.

that is awesome! i've not been officially diagnosed, but for the past several years i've needed 10-12 hours of sleep per day (average) and up to 16 hours on occasion. when i'm awake i have extremely low energy. good to know a proper diet can make a difference!

I've had it for 20+ years. Changing diet has helped at various stages, but never cured me. But losing 20+kg certainly helps. If you have ME I'm sure it's not a great idea to carry a bag of cement with you wherever you go  another 3/4 of a bag to go.

Do you mind sharing some of the changes you made that made such a difference? What kind of foods did you increase? Did you limit or minimize any others?

I am pleased for you. I also have Chronic Fatigue. A bit over a year now. I am still gradually recovering/having relapses - and food also plays a role for me in my recovery, as does graded excercise and sleep....(and reduced stress/activity..).

Is there a Chronic Fatigue Group on MFP?

That's inspiring! I haven't been diagnosed with it, but a lot of people think I have it. Just trying to get my doctor to test me. Maybe I can just do what you did and get rid of it on my own?

    Congratulations! :)

I developed CFS due to long term Lyme Disease. I was treated for the Lyme but ended up with CFS and permanent arthritis. Changing my diet and losing over 80 lbs now, has helped both tremendously!
