Zumba

Just a question, what would you log your Zumba workout as? I don't have a HRM to track calories, but still, what should I log it as?

    I love Zumba! Such a great workout. It's not listed per se, but I consider it an hour of Dance, at 300 calories.

    "dancing-general" turned out to be pretty close for me. I checked it against what my heart rate monitor says I burned.

    I know a lot of people on here log it as Aerobics - High Impact.

    I did get a HRM though and that was overestimating my calories burned by a couple hundred. I typically burn about 600 cals in an hour long class

    I just got Zumba, as soon as the Dr. clears me I will be dancing the rest of my butt off. I would like to know as well how to log it.

    My zumba instructor says 1000 calories per hour. I've heard a lot of dispute over that number so I'd probably use aerobics or dancing to compare caloric burn.

    I log mine as dancing, fast, ballroom or something like that.

    I'm doing Wii Zumba at home. The music and the workout make a difference, as does your effort. "Expert" or "Beginner" workout level did not matter at all.

    It worked out to Aerobics - High Impact, or running for me! I got a HRM and found that i'm burning 600-800 per hour or there-abouts. I'm 5'2", 136lbs and near my goal, but burned as much earlier in the year. It also shrunk my waist more than anything has yet this year. It's my "go to" for high calorie burn per hour.

    I think logging it as "Dancing, aerobic, ballet or modern, twist" is best. That's what I use. Remember, it's better to under estimate then over estimate!
