Midnight munchies, fat, and sugar

Hi there, this is my first post!
I'm struggling a bit lately with not overdoing it on the sugar and fat. Since I'm still in college (and saving up to move across the world) I live with my mother right now. She loves her sweets and buys/bakes loads of them. This creates two problems:
#1: I have pretty much no will power. How I resisted sugar and fat before was by not buying it ever, and never keeping it in the house. It worked really well! However, ever since moving back in with my mother I can't seem to stop eating this kind of stuff. I've tried several times in the past to get her to join me in working on eating healthy and it never lasts. One day she told me "I shouldn't have to restrict what I want to eat just because you have no will power". I also don't have the money to just go out and buy tons of healthy snacks in addition to what she has purchased, and she usually gives me a guilt trip if I let the food go to waste.
#2: Midnight munchies. I get some random crazy craving for the worst kinds of food...nachos, or chocolate for example. If I try to resist, or replace it with a healthy snack it works for about an hour. Then I end up gorging on stuff. I don't understand why I suddenly get super hungry at that time, but it's not good!
Honestly, everytime I try to eat healthy it works for a little while because I buy appetizing healthy foods that I want to eat...however...those are really expensive and I'm pretty broke lately. It seems like trying to eat healthy is going to consist of eating crap that I have no interest in eating . I have another little problem right now where I can't eat leafy greens because of some weird health issue. They cause me severe stomach trouble, I'm getting tests done for that at the moment, but in the meantime finding appetizing, healthy food is turining into a giant pain.
I also am not a fan of cooking, and during the semester with work ,school, and interning...I have zero time for that. I'm on winter break right now so it's a bit more doable for the next few weeks, but after that I'm back to where I was before.
I'm not overweight by any means, but I still think that I should make an effort to eat healthy and get into shape, and perhaps avoid becoming overweight. Anyway. Just looking for tips! Perhaps some of you dislike cooking as much as I do and have found a way to make something work for you .

Unfortunately if you want to make that change, cooking might be a must. I mean you could buy those freeze food but cooking is better. What i do when i have no time is prep some meals. But i totally hear you with the issue about the sweets and your mom! When i first started my weight loss, my whole family would eat anything and they would always try to make me eat what they're eating, telling me " Oh just eat it". The house would be packed with junk food. Initially i got mad at them since i saw it as, i was trying to make a change but they were "sabotaging" it. Needless to say, it was just my will power. Can't blame my parents or anyone for what i eat. Yes its much harder when you have that all around but you have to make a conscious decision that you're not gonna give in. I mean having moderation is fine.
Forget about your mom joining you, that will be temporary, she has to make that decision herself. Try to stay simple the first month, such as eggs, chicken (turkey etc.), sandwiches, rice, yoghurt. Those are pretty much food you probably have anyways. It's gonna take lots of dedication but that's what it takes. Don't let anyone guilt trip you, if you know you're doing something positive then stand by it.
Those midnight snacks, are there a reason for that? First are you eating enough throughout the day? Also do you tell yourself there are foods that you shouldn't eat which then end being what you snack on? Make sure you're eating enough. It's okay to have a sweet here and there. If fact it might be good just so you don't go craving anything else.
To be healthy , it doesnt have to be expensive. You can still mix it up a bit. Don't sweat on not eating "healthy" 24/7, being flexible is much better. What about green smoothies? Do they also have the same effect on you? There are also those veggie drinks they sell at the store. Also what i found to help was not to even mention to my parents how they shouldnt be buying these sweets, it honestly seemed like they found it amusing that i would say that. If anything your mom knows how you feel but sometimes you just need to take things into your own hands, and that means doing most things yourself. : )0 -
You only have 5 pounds that you want to lose, so all that is necessary for this is a caloric deficit. Try pre-logging your food to include those "snacks" you want, only keeping it within your caloric allotment.0

Iamaddicted, thanks for the tip on the smoothies. I do like them and with the veggies the more processed they are the better I am able to digest them without stomach pain. I used to do smoothies some time ago, but I would always forget about the produce I bought for it after some time because our fridge and freezer are chaos (long story short, not my fault and nothing I can do about that due to other people/living in a cheap rental). Maybe if I purchase them in smaller quantities at a time so they don't get lost in the abyss after awhile before they're eaten I won't lose money on that again .
I need more easy, healthy, cheap, filling snack ideas that won't hurt my stomach, though the smoothies are a good start. I love fresh fruit, but it isn't to filling. One thing I've started doing is buying onigiri from the Japanese market by my school. They're delicious, low in fat, and super filling. The problem is it's a bit out of the way, and I hate making it at home because it makes such a mess (I hate scrubbing sticky rice out of pots, ugh. I'm beginning to think I'm just too lazy to be fit.)
Lifting4Lis I'm less concerned with the number on the scale than I am with getting rid of fat/flab, and getting stronger. I honestly need to exercise more. That number I picked for a weight loss goal was more of a guesstimate. I don't tend to gain pounds, but after I stop monitering my diet for some time I do notice my stomach starts to get extra poochy regardless of what the scale says .

currently, combinations like feta and grapes, or feta and olives, or oaxaca and cherry tomatoes, or pomegranates and brie, or gouda and raspberries, - all like CRACK for me.0

add triscuits and there's no need for dinner lol0

Which strength training program are you following?

yoovie, that sounds delicious. I'll be sure to give those snacks a shot, thanks!
Cherimoose I don't have a "program" yet. I started out by fixing up my diet a bit, but I think it's time to implement more exercise. I'd like to buy some dumbells to use at home but I'm not sure what the correct weight is for me. I have some 2lb weights, but they're super light to me. I'm thinking maybe 5lbs?
I dunno if it matters, but I'm 5'2" and about 111 lbs (of course all my fat goes straight to my stomach and thighs. I have almost no upper body fat @_@ ). I want to build a bit of upper body strength so I can do more things on my own, and for the "flabbier" areas like my lower body, I'd of course like to tighten that up and turn more of it into muscle.
Is there a method/program that you would reccomend? I am pretty out of shape right now, I have very little physical strength at the moment.0
