I was diagnosed at age 14..21 years ago. 2 pregnancies later and it was still in full force..until now that is. After only 2 months of eating healthy and exercise I have a GREAT side affect..No cramping in the back the day before it comes (usually it is so bad I take prescription motrin for the day) and I actually had spotting my last 2 days this month instead of full fledge TOM for 7 days (TMI but until now it is as if you turn water on high when it starts and then just turn the faucet off when it is over). Anyone else find this happened to you and will the affects stay or will it go back to it's old ways?

That is great that you are able to control it through exercise and eating healthy. I tried that when I had it, but mine was way too severe. I had two surgeries for it, the second being out of state in Maine by an endo specialist. I think it really depends on how much of it you have, but I'm no expert, and everyone's body is different. Some women have severe cases and feel little pain, while others experience the opposite. If that's what works for you, then that is awesome. I hope it continues and that you remain pain-free (or almost pain-free)!

I have endometriosis as well as PCOS. I did some research and learned the cysts like yeast. It makes more of them and makes them grow. I had a cyst rupture last July and then another in september.

TMI time....... The 1st 2 days of my period I would have to use both a pad and a tampon, and change them every hour. I had horrible cramps 2 days before I started, my time TOM would last 9-10 days, and them cramps for about 5 more days. THEN I would have cramps during ovulation.

I changed my diet in January this year. I quit soda, white flour, and sugar. My peroids are now 4-5 days very few cramps and no problems during ovulation.

I hope you are able to feel better soon. I know how you feel.

This gives me hope!! I had a fibroid when I was prego but it decreased after delivery so no surgery needed. Mine WERE about 7-8 days this month is was 5 days woohoo. The pain gets so bad the day before that it truly feels worse than my contractions during delivery with DD (which I had with a midwife and was 4 cm and didn't know I was having contractions, wonder why LOL) I feel you on the pad/tampon combo, even in school I always took a change of bottoms with me just because of this..Now that you mention it I didn't cramp during ovulation this time either and usually I feel it on my right side EVERY month. O man if it is this simple to ease the pain I could kick myself in the a** for not doing it sooner!

I am also not as cranky. I still have the mood swings, but not as bad. My hubby was surprised when I told him I was on my period. Usually he sees it coming a week away.

I still have some right side pain, but it was to the point I could not walk or stand up straight. I am 32 and I had the hysterectomy talk with my gyn last year.

I cheat every once in a while. Like today I had a little chocolate, but I am so much better than I was and there is harmony in the home.

I do not have endometriosis but I'm suspicious I might have PCOS... @cat3nv -- how did you get diagnosed and what kind of symptoms did you have?

If anyone that comes across this thread is looking for an alternative method of surgery to successfully treat endo, the doc that treated me was wonderful. I will throw his name out there just in case someone is interested. His name is Dr. Martin Robbins and he is located in Scarborough, Maine. I traveled from MI to see him and be operated on by him in 2008. Truly the most caring, thorough doc I've ever met. His website is www.advancedwomenshealthcare.us and he also treats other conditions besides endo. Absolutely fantastic man.

I had horrible pains, I had horrible bleeding, hot flashes, and I was just horribly miserable. During a annual check up my gyn was pushing on me and I just about kicked him it hurt so badly. He said it was a cyst and left it at that.

This past summer when I had one rupture, but where it was they thought it was my appendix. After a cat scan they saw multiple bilateral cysts. Went back to my gyn for a follow up and had an ultrasound.

I had an abnormal pap in November, hopefully after my diet change all will be well when I have another in June.

I just found this website about PCOS and it has some good info http://www.womenshealth.gov/faq/polycystic-ovary-syndrome.cfm#a. I often wondered about also having PCOS because I have excessive facial hair which I have to bleach, hair loss on my head, skin tags on my neck (which I cut off) and I have had 2 miscarriages. The main reasons I wonder though is because when I was in my early twentiesI had a dr tell me if she didn't know better she would swear I was going through menapause and I went in for a pap and I felt a really bad pain and a pop. Dr saids he bust a cyst which wasn't pleasant and needless to say I never went back to her. The site also states that Even a 10 percent loss in body weight can restore a normal period and make your cycle more regular, HMMM sounds familiar LOL. I have been wondering about my thyroid being LOW but this seems to have a lot of the same symptoms and BOTH run in my family..mother with PCOS and my sister and paternal grandmother both have HIGH thyroid.

I am 38 and just had major surgery with an excision specialist for Endometriosis including a bowel resection, hysterectomy (for fibroids) and one ovary removed due to a very large cyst. I am now 8 weeks post op and feel better than I ever have before! I am now on a weight loss plan and am on thyroid medication for hypothyroidism. I have heard of so many women gaining weight who have had my surgery that I figured I better get on it before it gets me!!!! The Endo really kicked my butt the past three years and I gained 35 pounds in the last three years. So I am going to get it all off. I can't exercise too much yet but will start walking. If any of you girls have Endo, please add me to your friends list or let me know if I can add you. There is an amazing support forum and website at endo-resolved.com. I do think women with Endo have a bit of a harder time with weight loss than most due to the fact that one symptom of Endo is weight gain from ovarian cysts. Best of luck to you girls!
