The current issue of "People" is the one where they profile people who lost around 100 or more pounds (doesn't say how long it took them or how long they've kept off the weight). they do provide sample daily eating plans. One person has lost the weight by eating raw vegan. I thought that was interesting. They also have a story about a woman who lost a great deal of weight and is now trying to get the surgery to remove excess skin. She was brave enough to be photographed showing all the skin.

It's that time of year. I know that sometimes they make up the sample eating plans.... Or they are trying to promote the latest fad diet book.
Is this the same lady?

I have not seen this but I'm glad they're showing someone with loose skin issues, for once. Usually in People when doing the weight loss stories, they show people who supposedly went from 400 lb to 120 lb and look absolutely perfect with taut bellies and flawless limbs. While that probably happens, it's not typical...0

19 is a little young to get skin removal surgery. The usual advice is to wait 2 years after losing weight, to see how much of it snaps back by itself. Younger people tend to end up with less loose skin. One person has lost the weight by eating raw vegan. I thought that was interesting.
Actually she lost the weight from being in a calorie deficit.0 -
I haven't read this years but in the past most of the successful 'big losers' claim to maintain their new ideal weights at 1400-1500 calories a day, with active lifestyles. I don't know if it's a sign that their metabolisms are slowed or what but when people here say they think that level is too low even for the time spent in weight loss, I think of all the actresses and 'big losers' that just eat that little all the time. Or claim to in People.0

They're either lying or delusional (aka not logging everything they eat & drink accurately & honestly). Then people read that and think they can't lose weight on anything more than 1,200 calories a day.
Food is fuel, and we should be looking for the maximum number of calories at which we lose weight—never the minimum.0 -
I remember an article about how Beyonce lost her baby weight quickly and what she claimed to eat was shockingly little. Especially given the hard work she must do in her concerts and shows. I thought it was a disturbing message especially to young girls who might think that meant they should be eating 1100 calories a day or like that.0
