So I put on 2lbs over Christmas which I'm actually happy with and was ready to go hard this week to lose that and more but I'm so sick right now. I have stomach cramps, temperature, hot and cold chills, sore throat and a cough. Plus I feel really "floaty" on my feet so I have to stay in bed. Worst of all my throat medicine are 175 calories per pack and I take a pack a day so I'm having to cut out actual food to make my calories. I won't lie though, even at 28 it's nice having my Mum take care of me :D

As a mum, I'll bet its nice for her to be able to look after you at 28.......we miss it you know.
  • haha yeah having to cut out food for yucky medicine sucks. Often times when I'm sick I actually lose weight even though I stay in bed for days. Get all the rest you need and you can put in the hard gym work when you're better!

OP, don't worry about calories when you're sick. Your body needs fuel to recover!

I'm beginning to understand this, I'm feeling really weak and faint right now. When I think what I've eaten today it's no wonder but when your throat is red raw the last thing on your mind is eating.

True; I had the stomach flu earlier this year (fun sharing one bathroom with three sick people!), and I was bringing back up everything I ate. Still have to keep at it, though, and try. If your throat hurts, try really lukewarm soups (like tomato or veggie/meat broth), yogurt, or anything that you can puree or blend like frozen fruit with ice cream. Should help a bit!

See if your mom can get you a shake at McDonald's. LOADS of calories - just tons - and easier to get down a raw throat.

The Chloroseptic spray is really great for sore throats. It doesn't last as long as the lozenges, but will give you maybe ten seconds of no pain. :)

    Feel better!
