i joined the gym to aid my weight loss
instead i'm putting on weight
i know it may be muscle but i'm not losing any inches at all!
will i ever start losing again now i'm working out like 2+ hours a morning 4-5 days a week? HELPPP
i may not have a perfect diet but i know that eating what I want and counting calories works for me to lose weight without exersizing at all.
if it helps- i joined the gym 4 weeks ago and have not seen any loss since this- only a 1lbs gain!

You will get there eventually. Just takes time. At the moment you are gaining muscle, but soon it should switch to losing inches. Don't give up, it will happen. At least you are doing something about it. Be proud of yourself for that :-)0

its probably not muscle..you cant put on pounds of muscle so fast.0

You're actually gaining muscle - period.
People say that it's a myth but l don't believe that is true. l have stayed the same for a month, and l am exercising and eating even more (even doing the 30 Day Shred!) So l went and got my body fat measured and my muscle mass and l have lost 3% of my body fat and increased muscle on my legs and biceps. Don't let it discourage you! Losing inches will take a while but you will get there. Also, check the scales to make sure they're 100% accurately working.0 -
If you are spending that much time in the gym your probably burning a lot of calories. Are your net calories staying above at least 1200 cals? If you burn a lot with exercise it's extra important to eat your exercise calories back, good luck !!
Oh and also if your exercising your muscles more they will retain more water so could be this aswell

i'd hardly say a 1lb of muscle in a month is hard to put on though?0 -
Katy I've had very similar problems, just perservere, you'll get there eventually0

are you doing any exersize as well as the 30 day shred? the scales are fine i test my self on like any scales i can find! haha0 -
I would say that your body has been shocked into starvation mode. 2 hours is way over what is recommended over here (UK) If you are burning loads of calories and restricting them too then you won't lose.0

i do eat my exersize calories back though- i give myself a net of 1200 a day- i'm 5ft 2" and 155lbs0

2 hours isn't excessive exercise, depending on what you're doing and your level of fitness.0 -

20 mins treadmill 4mphish
10 mins spinning on an aerobic setting
10 mins rowing
25 mins elliptical trainer
20 mins treadmill 4mphish
10 mins spinning on an aerobic setting
10 mins rowing

then i go on the weight machiney things- i dunno what they are called...
and i try to do that every week day morning!0 -
Also my weight loss has been very small, but my clothes are fitting better?
I would keep it simple.
3 x day cardio (30-45 mins)
2 x day light weights0 -
so is too much exersise bad?
i've been told all my life i dont exersise enough then as soon as i'm being active and most importantly ENJOYING IT
i'm now getting told it's too much
VERY confused!0 -
I do about 2-3 hrs a day, so I wouldnt worry about it. Are your muscles sore? if they are, then you are rataining water. Also, you need to look into your nutrition. You said you eat what you want, counting calories. Well, one calorie doesnt equal another. Your weight loss before the gym was probably muscle loss, and since you are preventing muscle loss by going to the gym, you weight loss has slowed down. Start eating healhy, clean diet, drink lots of water and watch your sodium intake. I'm 5'1, and I dont eat all of my exercise calories back, only about 70%. You could try that too. Good luck :bigsmile:0

I agree entirely with halina above ^^ But I wouldn't worry about eating your exercise calories back (I was losing 1.5lbs a week until I went on holiday... sigh) eating all my exercise calories back (but then again I only burn between 400 and 600 a day in about 1-2 hours of exercise ^^ If I were burning much more than I probably wouldn't eat them all back.). I also only eat my exercise calories back healthily (well 90% of the time).0

my muscles dont feel sore no. I make sure I eat a high protien diet to prevent muscle soreness.0
