I don't want to work out tonight but I HAVE to! I REFUSE to go over my calories at all this week and well I was "starving" this afternoon so I ended up having a big lunch! :grumble:

I can't use any calories as pick me ups...any other suggestions? I want to actually be able to work out and not just a zombie on the elliptical tonight!

Does your gym offer any group classes?

Whenever I feel like not going to the gym, I'll go to a class such as spinning or body pump. It's more fun plus I work harder because I have someone telling me what to do!

If you don't have any classes, make mini-goals while you're working out. Try getting your RPMs above normal for 1 minute and then slow back down to your normal pace...See how long you can go at a faster RPM...Or just play with the levels of resistance and the positioning of the machine so that you work different body parts.

Maybe try a different machine if you're getting tired of the elliptical. Try the treadmill or one of those glider things. I tried the Stair Master for the first time EVER last week and I was hufifn' and puffin'!

Have fun tonight-I'll be doing the same thing if it makes you feel any better!

I have a hard time keeping myself motivated when it comes to the gym so I always go first thing in the morning.

What I do to keep myself motivated at work is to smile, and laugh... for no reason. Do you have a gym buddy? Or someone you could chat with AT the gym while you're working out? Maybe that would be enough to give you a boost?

  • It appears you might be low in energy. What do u normally do for energy boosts? I will not worry so much about calories. If you have the energy you will burn it off anyway. I shot of espresso should do the trick.
Let me know if u need more info, i run a boot camp here in Noth Dallas and also a personal trainer.
    Cheers
  • I hate working out. I really do, it's not fun, it doesn't make me feel more energized. There are those people out there that I love it, I lived with one of them in college. I won't ever be one of those people, I've always looked at it as a necessary evil - and man, is some of that crap evil!

If I'm forcing myself to go tonight, you do too!!

Lauren, just out of curiosity, how hard are you working out? If you're not feeling energized maybe you're pushing your body too hard? That was my experience anyway. At first I was like: WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS IT'S HORRIBLE?!!! and then when I pulled back and did just a little less I suddenly started really feeling energetic after.

I got energized as soon as I walked out the door and froze!!!! We only did 35 mins but I still burned 380 calories! :drinker:
