Binge eating disorder

Options
Recently I have developed a binge eating disorder. Originally, it was triggered by calorie/nutrient deprivation, but has evolved to becoming a compulsive, daily cycle of emotional eating to cope with stress. I have calorie counted before, but am new to myfitnesspal. In hopes of a new start and a better me, here goes another journey...

I am in the exact situation. id been losing weight fine by calorie counting until i decided to go "clean" and cut literally everything i labelled "bad" out. I finally reached my goal then became bulimic. i couldnt handle purging anymore so i stopped and eneded up gaining 15kg+. i binge everyday and cannot stop. Im hoping we can help each other out. how have you been going so far??
or anyone else who is going through the same thing, please share your advice :)

I'm in the exact same situation - started as a result of food deprivation, then evolved into a coping mechanism. Worst thing is, I have a history of extreme restriction from my teens so feel I have nobody to turn to who will take me seriously and I am so full of shame. I have had periods where I do well though - one thing I have found works in the past is to make sure I am around people, or if not a computer - either socialising or wasting time on the internet seems to be a good distraction. I never feel like binging after exercise either :) So going to implement these methods more! Feel free to add me so we can do this together :)

Well like they say, new year new you! :)

First thing right now would be to eat enough. Use this calculator to find your caloric needs: http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/ . I know it can get hard, sometimes your mind plays tricks on you and you get so consumed with "not eating too much" But right now the most important thing is to eat enough.

Second - eat what you want. There are no bad food. You can eat cake, chocolate and literally anything and still be good. It's all about moderation. What i suggest is to start slowly with buying the foods that you like to snack on. There's a very wrong concept out there that you always need to eat clean, does it work? Sure. Is it the only way to eat? No. It's all in your mind - you associate specific food with "bad" and "should not eat" and that makes you even more anxious.

Third, what is stressing you out? Whatever it is, take care of it. When you have a history of binge eating, it sets you back to a time where you basically confided in food - it was your outlet. Also look into the concept of IIFYM (if it fits your macros) It's basically flexible eating, which is something that helps alot with binge eating.

It's all a journey (as cheesy as that sounds haha)

I have the same problem. Like the person above me said, look into the IIFYM concept. I've been doing that and it has assisted me a lot in starting to build a better relationship with myself and food. IIFYM has assisted me in stopping the binge cycle and get control over my eating habits.

I, too, struggle with this. Recently I have begun to increase my caloric intake and incorporate foods which I initially deemed as "unclean" (fear foods like cheeses. dairy and grains). My biggest problem is "saving" calories until the end of the day and limiting myself to vegetables, fruit and "clean foods." However, this results in mini binges at night (overeating... still remain within calorie goal for the most part). IIFYM is a really smart concept as it teaches you to not fear certain foods

I feel like I've got the same disorder just from a life of unhealthy eating habits. You're not alone.

Today is new years eve and I want to go have fun - but not sure if i can with out bingeing =(

Same here, I am a terrible binge eater. I'd like to connect with you all and see if we can support each other—there's got to be a way to learn how to eat normally again.
