I've heard the term Twinkie used in the past - but it was definitely tongue in cheek and meant to be silly. I've only heard it used by my (full) Japanese friend using it in reference to herself.
California (at least parts of Southern California where I grew up) seems to have a different culture when it comes to race. Everyone is so mixed here, and it is so diverse that it becomes unnoticeable. (Unless we are talking about food - but then we make our food fusion so that's kinda going down the same path) And perhaps that gives way to more lighthearted self descriptions?
One of my sister's friends, upon learning that she was half Irish, half Hispanic, jokingly said "Oh, so you're a green bean!". We thought that was funny, because...green bean. But I don't know if that could be used elsewhere and seen in the same light.0 -
