Hi I've been eating 1000 or less calories and exercising, but not losing weight. WHY?

Sometimes you can eat too few calories. If you aren't eating the calories you gain from working out back. Atleast try to maintain the recommended calorie intake for your daily limit. I myself don't like to always eat my work out calories and don't always meet my calorie intake, falling below where I need to be. Just don't do it too often and you might not get the required nutrients.

Yes, you can eat too few calories but you will still lose weight. How do you think some anorexics become 70-80 lbs?

You should be eating AT LEAST 1200 calories daily to ensure you getting enough nutrients.

Moral of the story… If you aren't losing weight, you are eating too many calories and are not in a caloric deficit.
  • Also, if you eat too little your body will retain more of what you do eat and try to store as much as it can as it goes into famine mode

There's no such thing as "famine mode."

There can also be medical reasons to gain weight with low calories. A friend's thyroid is not giving out whatever chemical that regulates calorie burning. She lives on less than a thousand a day and gains weight. Have a doctor check to rule out medical reasons too.
