Benefits of Advocare?

Hi all! I am just curious of the benefits of Advocare. I know a girl who is seeing amazing results and would really like for me to start the challenge. I plan on changing my diet and amping up my workouts next week, because I am starting a weight loss/strength challenge at my gym. I feel as doing those 2 things would help me see results. I know there is no magic pill, but if I'm changing my eating habits anyway (as they require in advocare) what additional benefits would it provide? I am not trying to judge, just would like honest opinions. I think I would rather take the money and buy a new Fitbit Charge HR, but would love hear results from people not wanting me to purchase it from them, to help me make my final decision. Thanks

Waste of money. The Advocare isn't helping people lose weight, a caloric deficit is. Put your money towards the new Fitbit and a food scale.0

Honestly? Saving the money for something else is what I'd advise. Advocare and other companies like it give advice you can find for free elsewhere, and food you can buy for a lot less (even if they plan your meals, it's not like you can't get advice on that for free by just asking on a place like MFP). I suppose if you find paying for it all an incentive it'd be good, but nah.0

Thanks for your replys. I kind of felt that way, but I guess I just needed to hear it from someone else. Now if the new fitbit could hurry up and come out0

It's all about the caloric deficit.0

Never pay anyone for any fitness product unless it comes to you on your own that you need it and go seek it out.
Weight loss is like everything else. There are plenty of people who want to take your money from you and they will say absolutley anything to get it. They are the answer to all your prayers and when you've given your money to them, you'll be better off!
Don't get suckered. Buy something if you NEED it.
If you're working out at home and it's just to small or you want different weights, THEN join the gym. Don't join because joining will make you lose.
If you find that your larger "girls" make running properly a little harder and you wish they'd quit bouncing around, get the expensive sports bra. Don't buy it because it's equipment for running and you want to spend money and lose weight properly.
Buy stuff as you need it, not before you need it.0 -
You already know the right way to do it, so that money would be much better spent on a Fitbit. If you get tired of waiting like I did, look at other options. I love Fitbits (have had two of the older models) but finally gave up and got a Basis Peak. It's motivating me to walk more; so much more useful than fad diet products!0

No matter what you subscribe to - as the Ironman champion Chris 'macca' McCormack says "you are the CEO of your one person company". There are free challenges out there you may want to consider - if you have mapmyfitness/mapmyrun/bike on your smartphone, they have challenges you can participate in for free all the time.0

It counts steps. It draws you a line on an actual map to show where you went, which is fun. It can also motivate you to walk more to see the lines. I've walked extra in the neighborhood just to see the lines go through every street in the neighborhood, lol. Some woman even walks around to make her lines form interesting (sometimes dirty) shapes. A friend of mine runs around in an enclosed space (like a basketball court) to make her lines into a big, squiggly block, lol. I crack up at those.
It also counts your time, so you can see when you're running faster over the same distance.
It synchs to MFP.
And it's free!!!0 -
I actually do like some of their products, but not the cleanses or weight loss ones. I like some of their sports performance line. I like their amino acid complex, Catalyst, for example. I also have had really good results with O2 gold, but I have no idea why something like that would even work. I thought it was a placebo effect, but it even helped me with bronchitis. A lot of the other stuff isn't super unique and it's a little over-priced. That being said, I like ordering from Advocare better than going to GNC and the stuff arrives really quickly.0
