Fitness and Weight goals for last year and this year:Sucess and failure

I figured I had to tell someone. I don't always feel comfortable telling in person friends and family. I feel like it sets me up for failure. It's the added pressure I guess?
last year my goals were:
1. Start weight lifting
2. Start running
3. Try a martial arts class
4. lose 40lbs
I have managed to do weight lifting twice a week and for the first time in my life I feel strong. I actually have a muscle "divet" in my bicep when I flex. Not sure of the wording there. I completed a couch to 5K program and did two 5K races both without stopping once!!! In July on a whim I started a Wing Chun martial arts class. I've made so many friends in that class and met so many amazing people. I now also feel pretty confident I can defend myself a little bit in a fight, versus curling up on the ground and crying lol. I lost about 6 lbs...but still kept off the original 40lbs I lost
But it actually doesn't bother me that much. in January of 2014 I was reclusive, with a few friends, and my main form of social activity was coffee and netflix. I accomplished some pretty damn amazing things last year. I told myself if the idea of doing it scares me then I had to try it at least once. And it really worked! I am fitter than I was last year. My body looks different. i feel different. My blood work is different.
So my goals for this year
1. Marathon baby!
2. Do a full pull up
3. Advance 3 levels in my Wing Chun class
4. Recommit to the diet that lost me my original 40lbs and lose another 50.
Anyone else should please feel free to share

Wow, what an awesome 2014 you had! I bet your 2015 is even better. Are you going to try a half marathon first, or just jump all the way in?
I am also aiming to do one real pull-up this year.0 -

Yeah! Pull up twins!
I'm going slower than half marathon. My 10K training group starts this weekend. Spring is the half marathon training group. (skipping summer because heat + me = nope) and will do the full marathon training in the Fall. It's fun to do it in a group. Twice a week we all meet up to warm up and run together. Everyone groups off at their speed levels. At the end of the training we all sign up for the same race. I'm lucky that I live in Seattle which has a great running community and excellent training groups led by people who really know what they are doing. People of all speeds and sizes run here and even at my biggest (273 lbs) when I ran super slow and huffed a lot the fastest pro runners in the neighborhood would high five me as I passed and encourage me. So I've been really encouraged to keep with it.0 -
