Vacation in less than 9 weeks

Hi everyone,
I'm a pretty new member to this site. I'm giving the 1200 calories a day a shot. It's going pretty well even though it's only been a couple weeks of tracking my food intake. I'm pleasantly surprised at how concious tracking has made me of everything I eat and drink. I love it!!
So here's a question, vacation is less than 9 weeks away (plus summer on it's way). I haven't really been exercising yet, which I know I need to and plan to within the next day or two...but is there anything else you can suggest to lose weight quicker? Is it impossible to lose somewhere in the vicinity of 30 lbs in that time frame?
Suggestions and comments are welcome!
Thank you! : )

I mean you could lose that much but in the grand scheme of things 20-25 would be safest. If you do it too fapidly it will come back with a vengenace.!0

It's not impossible, it's just not going to happen in a healthy way in that time frame, I lost 25 pounds in 2.5 months. I have 20 more to go in 2 months, and that is probably not going to happen for me.
But work hard til then, every pound off counts!!!!!!0 -
I want to share something I learned... Quick fixes mess you up. I've been there and done that. I really wish I could give you something more.. but the truth is that you just need to focus and do what you can in the time you have. But, you will feel WONDERFUL if you lose that 20 pounds! My neighbor went on Atkins before her reunion, and within a month and a half, she had lost weight, but she gave up and it ALL came back before the reunion, so she ended up having wasted the time and energy doing it! Bummer for her, because during that time I suggested she join me on the MFP process. During that time I lost about 15 pounds and not only did it not come back on, I kept losing. Slowly but surely the scale keeps inching down. Anyway, she's heavier than ever now and finally decided to do it the MFP way, 2 pounds a week, max.0

I would still actually be fine with 20+ in the time frame I have. I know it hasn't been long....but I already do feel better and I'm not starving myself and I have had some sweets so I don't feel deprived. I feel in control. I guess that's what it's all about huh?
Thank you so much for your posts!!! I'm happy to have found this site!0 -
I am also going on vacation in about nine weeks and would love to lose 30 as well. If i could lose 20 I'd be happy though. I think it can be done I've lost nearly 50 in 3.5 months so to me its very much possible. They say 3500 calories equals a pound so if you have your goals on here set to lose 2 pounds a week you should be able to lose at least 18 if you exercise more and not eat all your exercise calories back you will probably lose more than that. Some people on here frown upon this, but its what has worked for me so far. My calorie goal is 1260 a day, and I usually try to burn at least 200-400 calories a day. Something that has helped me alot was Jillian Micheals 30 day shred, its quite popular on the site. In 30 days I lost over 19 inches and 16 pounds its an awesome and intense workout and so worth the results. You can get the dvd at amazon.com, walmart, target, ebay for around $9 and then you'll need a set of hand weights recommended is 3-5lbs. I hope this helps you and good luck on losing the weight!!0

Also I have been under the supervision of my doctor through all this, mostly because when I went in for my check-up in january my blood pressure was high which was the big factor on why I wanted to lose the weight, and he hasn't had a problem with the rate I'm losing at and he does test every month on me to make sure all my levels are normal. He did have me on some pills for the first couple of months to kick start me-so yes that could be considered a quick fix but I had also changed the way I ate and exercised alot more and even since being off the pills I've lost almost as much as I did when i was on them. The major thing for you is just eatting right and making sure you exercise. I have my goal set to 2lbs. a week but alot of weeks I lose more and not all that sure why besides the few days I exercise a ton. I would think you would lose at least 20 but if you push hard enough I can see 25-30 being what you lose.0

I'm going on vacation in 2 months and I'm shooting for 20 pounds. I think it's a little unrealistic, since right now my body is at a plateau. I'm hoping I can kick it up a knotch.. I'd be happy with 15 pounds more!0

Thanks for the words of wisdom! Good luck to you guys with your weight loss also!0
