I want to start keeping track of my exercise and need a step counter / fitness tracker that will work with windows phone and iPad. Can anyone recommend a good one.

I have a fitbit flex that works great. The charging is a little dodgy (flaw with the design, alas) but everything else is good. Plus, its on a wristband so I just forget it's there. You can change your goals as well (for when 10,000 just isn't enough!)0

What activities do you participate in that you want to track?0

What are you doing ...I use a fitbit to track general and step based activity (had a flex but changed to a zip for convenience) and I wear a Polar FT4 HRM for workouts at gym ...appreciating that it is not accurate for weights part of workout0
