I currently have a pair of Reebok Rezigs (I think they're now called Zigtech?). I also have Saucony Grid Excursion tr8 shoes. They are really comfy and good at gripping the ground. I want to get another pair of shoes, but not sure which I should get. What are your favorite running shoes? Thanks

I looked at a pair of Nikes and I like the colors and style they have but a friend told me they weren't really good for running. Thank you for your post! I might get the Nikes I looked at.

Asics Gel-Flux. I've been professionally fitted and also own Asics Gel-Nimbus and Brooks Ghost 6, but I keep coming back to my Gel-Flux.

Skechers with memory foam are ridiculously comfy! For running, I love my Saucony shoes!

I got professionally fit for my running shoes.

I got the Saucony Guide 7s. I love them. I got to demo the Guide 8s and I love them too. The Asics GT-2000 s are the same class as the Guides and I demo'd those too. Didn't like them really.

I've run in the Asics GT-3000s which you can only get through specialty shops (from the Asics rep). I had Adias Glide 4s and Nike Pegasus 29s. Both weren't right for me in retrospect and I ended up donating my Nikes. Felt too smooshy and poorly made after the Sauconys.

Another reason I don't like Nikes. I had a pair of tennis court shoes in high school. Didnt even last the season

Yeah Sauconys are pretty comfy. Thank you for your response!

The ones that fit my foot and work with my stride ... colors and looks don't matter.

The only true way to find out what works for you is to get a good fitting done where you get to run in them .... from a store that lets you return them even after you pound the pavement for a couple of weeks ... For some that is a minimal shoe, others a heavily padded cushioned shoe, some need a lot of motion control while others need none. The difference in a Saucony Kinvara to Omni to Virrata is extreme ... so is the difference between a New Balance MT00/WT00 and the 1080.

I've been running in Vibram Five Fingers minimalist shoes for 3+ years, after 30 years of shod running. It's to the point if I run in even a lighter shoe, I feel like I'm in heels! Formerly I'd replace shoes every 3 months or so but because I'm not losing support (my feet and legs are providing the support), the shoes don't "wear out". I have three pairs I've been rotating through during that time and while the treads are worn (but not worn through), the fabric sock and straps/laces are still in perfect condition. I dabble in barefoot running too, but because I like to do distance I don't put in the consistent time it takes to condition my feet for total barefoot running.

I'm really loving the Mizuno Wave Runner. I feel like I can run forever in them!

Saucony Triumph 10. I told the guy at the shoe store (after wearing and running in several pairs that day) that I loved them so much, I was considering putting them in a tux and marrying them..

Personally I use Saucony Hurricane 15 for road, Saucony Excursion Goretex for winter trails and Saucony X0dus4 for racing and long distance trail training

Adidas gazelles. Probably not ideal but they work and they were mega cheap.

I ordered about 10 pairs of shoes from Zappos to try on, since I don't think I am up to professional-level fittings yet (I only run about 12 miles a week.) The most comfortable for me ended up being Asics Gel Zaraca 2, and they have been great for running as well. A bonus is that they were one of the less expensive pairs I tried.

I like Asics. I need thick soles and the shoes need to be quite supportive otherwise I roll my ankles, and the impact affects an old knee injury.

I agree with other posters that choosing a pair of running shoes is a personal thing that depends on a lot of factors so what may work for one doesn't work for all. You can go to a specialist shop and they will help you choose a suitable pair.
  • I have Nike lunarglides and there the best I've had so far

12mi is enough to go to a running shop. Just starting c25k os enough to go to a running shop.

You could be doing damage to yourself by being in the wrong shoes. Please go get fit and analyzed to prevent injury later.

Nike is the only brand that works for me! I was amazed to hear you guys don't like them. For the road I use Nike Initiators (a cheapish one but they won't quit!) and at the gym I love Nike Flex Run and Nike Revolution 2's. I've tried several New Balance and Asic models and they all either didn't fit right or gave me pain somewhere.

Asics Gel Nimbus 16 for normal running, Asics Gel Fujiracer 3 for trail running and at the moment I am experimenting with the Hoka One One "Clifton"

I have severe pronation so it's been the infamous Brooks Beast. A gym member suggested the Saucony CS3 Motion Control. No contest, it's the new winner.
