I have never owned a fitbit before, but decided if I can lose my first 15 lbs and reach my first goal I am going to buy one.

I need more info on what to look for, what works good, where to get the best deals, etc.

Any info you can provide will be great. TIA.

If you go to there site there's a pretty good description of what every fitbit does. Which one is best for you depends on what you want to use it for :) I'm personally holding out for the charge HR!

I have the Withings Pulse, which is similar. But I just bought the Fitbit Flex for my mom for Christmas. It was on sale at BestBuy and it looks like they still have a bunch of sales going on. Amazon usually has comparable prices to most brick and mortar stores, so it's worth double checking if they're marked down there too.

There's a Fitbit One that's similar, but the Flex is the wristband. It syncs to their app on your computer over Bluetooth (and I think there's a mobile app for your phone. It tracks sleep, steps, distance and calories burned. She said they have their own calorie tracking in the dashboard but she hasn't used it yet.

There's a bunch of different Fitbit models. I used this http://www.fitbit.com/compare to choose which one to buy for my mom. Click the thing that says "full comparison chart" under the pictures of all of them to get the features.

I already have the Withings scale, which has a bunch of my weight data in it already. My Fitness Pal syncs with both and it automatically adds in my calories burned. I'm pretty sure the other trackers like the Fitbit and the Jawbone Up can do this too, I just chose that one since I have like 2 years of weight data in my scale's app.

I have a sitting job and one thing that I like about it having an activity tracker is that it reminds me to get up and move a lot more. I've started going for walks on my lunch break and increasing how far I walk the dog.

I would say get one now though! They're on sale a lot of places and it would probably help you hit your 15 lbs. goal. I was stuck on a plateau and have lost 5 more lbs. since I bought one because I'm a lot more conscious about how much exercise I'm getting now.
