A slight concern on post-workout meals !!

Hi everyone, I am new to mfp and already excited on losing the last 15lbs.
I do weight lifting 5 times a week and started to mix in some elliptical exercises in the mix.
Not sure what is happening on some days, but I could eat like a horse sorta speak since I added some elliptical exercises in the mix so I'm not too sure which foods to eat at post-workout to lose the fats and at the same time, not losing any muscle gains ??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated !!

You lose weight being in a caloric deficit. So eat whatever you'd like to eat that allows you to meet your protein and overall calorie needs. At this point you are not gaining any muscle.0

The concept of a post workout meal is a bit overblown. You do not need to do the whole chicken and brown rice thing that a lot will suggest unless this is something you really want to.
Focus on getting some food with a wide amino acid profile and carbohydrates to take care of your muscle repair and growth. As long as you're not eating too much you shouldn't have any issues.
Congratulations on your losses so far and keep kicking butt0 -
Cardio tends to make you much hungrier than weight training - something like a slice of brown bread with healthy peanut butter, or weetabix, and a banana, is ideal for replenishing glycogen stores etc. Also, your metabolism will be really amped up after exercise, so post-workout snacks are much more efficient per calorie. Congrats on your weight loss so far and best of luck!0

Bodybuilders go through fads, just like dieters. They had to eat seven meals a day (or whatever it was), then they had to do this pre- and post-workout meal thing. It doesn't mean everyone needs to do that. It doesn't even mean what they're doing is helpful. It's just fun for them - it's their hobby.
If you haven't seen your doctor yet (and I'm guessing not because you're asking this question), go see him. Make sure you're healthy, get any special diet you need to be on, exercise limits...or get cleared to do what you want! Get a referral to a dietitian and all your nutrition questions will be answered. Every weight loss journey should be overseen by a doctor.
Happy 2015. It's The Year Of Accomplishment! (I made that up, but all that crap gets made up, so why not by me. )0 -

If you haven't eaten your next meal yet, just have it. I doubt if you are in a critical situation.0

Agreed. I get peckish after a long bike ride (say 2 hrs +) but not running. To be honest I aim to average 1000 cals a day of exercise ( a lot but I have been doing this for several years. I just aim for a daily target of 1850 ( I weigh 88kg) and then eat back about half the calories of the exercise.0 -
If you're working out for ninety minutes or more at a high intensity, eat something high in protein with some carbs mixed in shortly after you finish. If it is just thirty minutes to an hour, it probably doesn't matter.0

Post workout meals immediately after workouts (though "optimal window of opportunity" is available) are mostly broscience. Unless you're an elite athlete, or trying to add some muscle, then there really isn't a need for one.

Thanks everyone for your honest opinions ! I do an hour of heavy weights ( 3 sets/8 reps) and 30min of elliptical exercise. One of my main concerns were the sugar levels, I eat a lot of fruits, bananas, strawberries, blueberries with yogurt ect....... I keep exceeding my sugar levels and sometimes Carbs, but good with everything else. This all started when I added the cardio exercise. I have lost 3lbs in 2 weeks ! So my main concern is, should I worry too much on the sugar levels ??
