What is a good amount of calories to burn each day with your workout? I should have an intake of around 1700 cals a day which I try and stay under 1500 or less. I found that walking only 199 cals when walking briskly for 30-45 mins. When I use the DDR I burn around 350 cals in an hour. Is that a good amount to loose 1-2 lbs a week? I'm new to all of the calorie counting and calorie burning! Any help I can get will be apreciated!

  • Each pound is worth approximately 3500 calories. If I understand correctly, you need to eat 1700 calories a day to maintain your weight. By eating 1500 calories a day, you are cutting 1400 calories each week. To lose one pound a week, you will need to burn an addition 1100 calories each week, or about 200 calories/5 days a week. If you continue to eat 1500 calories a day and walk 5 days a week, you are on track to lose 1 pound a week.

    The great thing about this site is that you don't need to do the math. After setting up your profile, and choosing what you would like to lose each week, the site will let you know how many calories you can eat to lose that amount of weight each week. If you exercise on top of this, then you get to eat all of the calories you burned.

    I don't have it, and I don't know who does it, but it's an exercise dvd.

    its the 30 day shred by jillian micheals it is an awesome workout. it has three stages, and its pretty cheap only about $15
