Hello, the reason I've decided to eat well and get healthy is because I've been suffering with Ibs - chronic constipation, working mother of one. Is there anyone else dealing with this type of issues I'm in a lot of pain and can barely eat. If so friend or comment, thank you.

Hi Stefanie, I do and was suffering unbelievable bloating, my doctor gave me info on FODMAPS and Buscopan which didn't seem to relieve my symptoms. I know of two other friends who swear by Mebeverine. This link gives you a lot of info http://www.theibsnetwork.org/the-self-care-plan/diet/is-it-food-intolerance-or-the-intolerant-gut/fodmaps/.
I am speaking to a nutritionist this weekend who specialises in digestive issues.
Unsure what you've purchased from Bio Kult. Take a look at this article if it is a probiotic http://www.livestrong.com/article/154239-side-effects-of-fos-in-probiotics/
  • I had been soft diagnosed with IBS that really turned out to be food sensitivities. My gut is much happier with a good amount of vegetables, some fruit, protein, enough fat, and very limited or no soy, dairy, wheat, and sugar. Whenever I remove those four from my diet completely, I drop 1-2 lbs a week. Anytime I reintroduce those, I gain 5-10 lbs and stop losing weight.

I would definitely work with a nutritionist on an elimination diet to discover what your body is telling you about the foods you are eating. The start of it is always hard, and I'll admit, being a nanny for twin toddlers who love the swim foods I do, I cried over string cheese, cheddar, and toast when I was restricting myself. I like that me, better. For the past month, I've indulged myself and had lots of 'crap' issues return. My gut felt totally ravaged last week and I am glad to have things flowing more normally even just a few days into cleaner eating. Look up clean and lean revolution. She helped me get on track and was a great support.

Check out FODMAPS diet, Specific Carb Diet, GAPS and autoimmune paleo. Elimination diet is likely needed to determine your own specific food reactions, we are all different!! I feel a lot better than I did last year with NO HELP from doctors, just diet. I am not 100% but I am working towards it.

I also have IBS, and I second elimination diet. One of the biggest things that's helped me is learning what foods trigger my symptoms (cow milk, rice, pizza, wheat in large portions, fast food etc). Supplement wise I take a probiotic and digestive enzymes. I'm diligent about managing stress. That got me 85% better*. What took me the rest of the way was adding homemade bone broth and sauerkraut to my diet.

*improvement contingent on avoiding trigger foods
