waist training?

So I've noticed that the new "IT" thing to do is waist training. Everyone has purchased the waist training clinchers (I think that's what they're called). I have questions: Anyone actually use them? If so what type of exercise are you doing? Those who lift heavy and do crossfit have you used them?
Trying to weigh the pros and cons of getting one.

they are, unfortunately, a proven gimmick :-/
your best bet, which has been proven time and time again, is to go for overall increase in your strength (not just middle section) while decreasing your body fat % - this will get you the results that those climbers wish they could give!

That's what I thought lol (I think it might actually harm you in the long run.) But I just wanted to see what the generally feed back was you know?0
