I have a bad habit of eating when I watch tv. I'm slowly changing it and I make sure to eat 3 meals at the kitchen table everyday. Once I sit down for my favorite shows at night, I get the munchies. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

I even do exercises to take my mind off it. Lots you can do while watching tv.

As for snacks, greek yogurt, cottage cheese or more treat like is sugar free jello/pudding or popsicles. Plain popcorn with butter flakes are good too but more calories than jello.

i eat popcorn EVERYDAY!! in front of the tv. lost 60+ lbs doing so. jalapeno and nacho cheddar are my fave seasonings. watch the salt though.
  • I have the same problem. My normal goto bag of popcorn has more calories and fat than I'd like to admit. This week I'm trying snacking on fruit. I just got some really good strawberries and cherries from our local farmers market. So I'm going to try them this week in place of the popcorn.

I like watermelon it's crunchy and sweet so i don't feel like getting chocolates:-)
  • experiment with seasonings and your popcorn. I have made some delicious popcorn without butter. Hummus is great with veggies, home made beef jerky...just some ideas

I lie down to watch TV now so don't snack, but my go-to became a fake "frappuccino" style drink- 1 diet hot chocolate sachet, heaped tsp decaf coffee powder + sweetener. Dissolve in 1/2 cup water and then blend with ice so it's thick and cold- sipped with a straw it lasts for ages!

Also used to like frozen peas (eaten frozen)- sounds weird and I don't normally like peas but they are sweet when frozen and really good! Frozen grapes or pineapple chunks are also delicious.

Popcorn is a good option if you prefer salty snacks, or things like cucumber/mushrooms/bell peppers dipped in salsa. Or make "ants on a log" with laughing cow cheese. Roasted brussel sprouts are another favorite of mine (I hated brussel sprouts until I tried them roasted- just trim, spray with oil, season and bake for 30 mins until crispy/brown). Roasted chickpeas are popular too- make them the same way but so versatile- can season with pumpkin pie spice and a little sugar/sweetener, or any spicy/savory herbs you have on hand. Just salt and pepper works too.

Other ideas... Sugar free jello, banana soft-serve (literally, 2 frozen bananas in the food processor- turns into something eerily like fro-yo!), sugar free gum, mini meringue cookies

I always make sure I keep enough calories to have my TV snack at the end of the day. Last night I had such a great workout I even made a yummy chocolate pudding to have. You have to reward yourself for what you do all day so dont deprive yourself of your treats. BUT if you have a crappy food day that is a different story. lol.
