Good Morning everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has a book they can recommend? Anything that motivated you or just clicked and helped you with this lifestyle change? I love to read and I need a good shot of kick in the *kitten* motivation!
Thanks, Amy

Well, I don't know if I would call them inspirational, but I really liked Omnivores Dilemma and In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan.

Depends on your particular needs and issues. I like the Beck Diet Solution. It takes a CBT approach...helped me to re-think my relationship with food and learn how to control it. It's not "inspirational" so much as "educational."

I agree with the recommendation for the Beck Diet Solution. So many diet books are full of anecdotes that are clearly the author's fantasy of an magical diet. Beck combines anecdotes with an explanation of the psychology of self-delusion and exercises to change cognition. The exercises may seem hoky, but are worth the time and effort.

Another book I highly recommend is The Diet Fix by Dr. Yoni Freedhof. Here's a quote, "There really is no one “best” diet - if there were, there wouldn’t be tens of thousands of different diet books available, and weight struggles would be rare to non-existent. Ultimately a person’s “best” diet is the healthiest diet that they can enjoy, as diets that are merely tolerable, given food’s star billing as one of life’s most seminal pleasures, simply don’t last. Real life does, and frankly must, still include chocolate." He had me at chocolate. His website is weightymatters.ca/.
