Hi! I just signed up today...I have been batteling with my weight for a long time now...I can never seem to keep my motivation! I will be really good about going to the gym 4 to 5 times a week for a few months, and then all of a sudden I can not force myself to walk through those doors. Time time last year I lost about 15 pounds and felt really great about myself...I even wore a bikini for the first time ummm...ever! I was no where near as thin as my friends, but I had so much confidence I knew I could rock it!
Fast forward to this year...I have just hit my usual wall after hitting the gym hard for the past month and a half. I have been reading through some posts and I am really amazed by people's progress.
What motivates you to excercise and eat well? Every tip helps!
Thank you!!

try signing up for an event that you find the idea of challenging now, like a 5km run. if you are already a seasoned gym goer then it should be fairly easy to wrap your head around this one!! Having an event to train for will give you motivation!
Find a gym with classes that you love, I followed a spin instructor around 2 gyms as i loved his bootcamp style of training, and many of those in the class did the same. He was hardcore, you always felt fantastic afterwards even though I felt like dying in some of his classes!
Try new equipment at the gym that you havent tried before, especially weight machines. Grab a PT or instructor at the gym and get them to show you how to use them - that's part of their job.
Learn to love the adrenaline rush of a good, hard workout! It will get you coming back for more!0 -
New clothes! I can't stop looking at myself in cute clothes. It feels so good. Not to mention all the cash I spent on the new duds. MUST STAY IN SHAPE! MUST STAY IN SHAPE!!!0

This may be a little weird.. but inspiration is, I look at everyones before and after photos, especially ones that are similar to me, and I just glance at them all day, and it motivates me to eat well and workout. Because when I look at the photos I know it can happen.
I'm very much a visual learner so this works for me
Also, its my 21st in 3 months and my sister is about 15 kg lighter then me so that's my motivation to get fit so that I can look just as good as her on my birthday (we're triplets)
Hope this helps somewhat...0 -
I have a dress a couple of sizes smaller than I currently wear hanging on the back of my bedroom door so I have to look at it every time I go out.0

First off, you need a strong support system and group of people to keep you accountable. This is what saved me! If you need friends out here to help you out feel free to add me!
When it comes to finding motivation to exercise, you have to treat yourself! Not with food lol. But, when you do your exercise everyday that week or stay under your calorie goal, buy yourself a new outfit or something. You could also do it with every x amount of pounds you lose, you treat yourself to something. Also, Mix it up! Dont do the same thing for every work out. Go for runs, take hikes, go to the gym sometimes. And, dont always work out alone! If you have a friend or loved one who can go to the gym or take a walk or run with you, do it! Its way easier when you arent doing it alone!

Hmm, I don't exercise as much as I need to but what motivates me short term to eat well is my summer plans. I plan on going to a U2 concert a week before my birthday in July and want to be extra sexy for them! What will motivate me long term (and essentially lifelong) is the fact that I'm determined to be a certain dress size for the rest of my life. That's my personal motivation, but everyone has different ones.
Everyday you should think about your motivation to help keep you going. Once you have your goals set here and reach them for a few weeks, it'll be like second nature to you, i.e. the lifestyle change. I don't see myself going back to my former eating habits at all. Yes, I've had 1 bad day but I was able to come here, read some threads, view a few before/after pics and get my mentality back on track. Use this site over and over and when you're done, use it some more! It's a really great place to keep you accountable and inspired.0
