Hi all. I'm new to this app, but I am thoroughly enjoying it so far.
I've started my weight loss journey about 2 years ago. I started out very slow, at first I only focused on learning how to cook. I then focused on removing the HFCS from my diet. I tried doing exercises like walking or going to the gym but I loathed these activities. Finally I joined a kung fu studio. I freaking love it. I've never been so motivated to work out and eat right as I am now.
Basically I want to lose weight and get healthy so that I can do double jump kicks and the like. I'm not concerned so much about clothing sizes, inches, or a number on a scale. I'm focusing on being flexible, strong, and nutrient oriented.I do a variety of activities like hiking, yoga, water aerobics, and of course the kung fu which also offers tai chi. I'm glad to be here, hoping this app is as helpful as it has been so far.
So far I started at 250,im currently at 199,and

Yuo sound like me, after huge amounts of false starts spanning years (and soooo many gym memberships where I just wasted money) I started Taekwondo a year ago and I'm HOOKED. It's my motivation to keep losing weight and getting fitter! I want to jump high, kick hard and spar long!0

Heck yeah, martial arts high five!0

Another Taekwondo guy here, i've been training for almost a year, and whilst I haven't lost much weight, I have lost inches from my waist and my general fitness, flexibility, and even outlook on things have improved. It's probably the best thing i've ever started and motivates me hugely to do better.0

When I walk, I feel like I'm only walking to improve my walking skills. With martial arts the muscle and flexibility I'm building is utilitarian, I think for me that is the real difference. Im exercising, sure. But more than that I am training myself to be graceful, agile, reflexive, fluid, and alert.0

Taekwondo, Karate, and Kendo here. Well, not right now - I moved - again - and haven't found a new dojo/dojang yet. But I've been training for 11 years! It's definitely the key to my health, helping me recover from surgery, giving birth, and countless episodes of major depression. I can't wait until I can afford to start training here in SD - I'm thinking I might try Judo this time and round out my skills a little.0

I did a bit of judo in junior high. Came in really handy when one boy decided to grab my chest without permission. I threw his *kitten* on the ground with a hip toss. Funny enough he didn't bother me again.0
