Beyond Frustrated!

Ok, so I dont go over my calorie count, I exercise, and I can't drop weight. I eat most of my exercise calories so I doubt my body's in starvation mode. Im stuck at 11 lbs and trust me, I easily have more than 40 to go. What gives? Has anyone had this problem? Ive been tracking since March 2. Please help.

Maybe you're in equilibrium. What's your typical net? Maybe you can decrease about 200 cals per day, as long as that doesn't put you below 1200. If you open your diary, others might have some additional ideas for you....0

Do you weigh your food? Do you have a HRM?
Might be over estimating exercise cals or under estimating food0 -

Look at your goals and see if it still says you will lose the amount per week that you wanted to. I noticed that after I had lost the 4 lbs my goals said that I would lose 1.9/ week rather than 2. When I revised my goals, I was allowed 30 fewer calories per day to still lose 2 lbs per week. Maybe this is what has happened with you...0

I'm actually experiencing the same frustrations. In speaking with my doctor I found out that my weight loss may likely be hindered by a particular medication I'm on that is known to slow metabolism and make it extremely difficult to lose weight. I am, in fact, lucky to not be gaining even more weight because of the med. If you're on any medications then maybe that could be affecting your weight loss progress?0

To make your diary public:
go to the food tab, under settings. At the bottom of the page, there is there diary sharing settings, just click public and you're good to go!0 -

I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Being super good - definitely exercising and not going over cals and I was undereating, so now I'm making sure to get all my cals in but still nothing . Really frustrated too. You are not alone lol.0

You've lost 11 lbs in 2 months. Usually they say 1-2 lbs a week, so that's in line.
How long have you been "stuck" where you are?
I took a quick look at your diary and for the last week or so it appears you're skipping meals. Is that only because you're logging your food for the day in one place, though?0 -
Actually if you've been tracking since March 2nd that's 9 weeks so 11 pounds you're losing roughly 1.2 a week which is a good pace.0

Im lazy and put all my food in one category. trust me, i DONT skip meals....I LOVE food wayyy too much!0

I would say check your sodium intake. Unless you're drinking a ton of water, you could be retaining it from too much sodium. That is what happened to me last week, I had dropped down to 199 and went up to 203 in a day of not drinking water. >.<0

Only you truly know your body. MFP gives you a calorie alottment based on a calculation that determines your BMR. The thing is, that calculation is based on hight, weight and age. It is my belief that our BMRs fluctuate from person to person based on our individual metabolism and it's ability to run efficiently. I know my body and have been in the diet/exercise game for a looong time. I NEVER eat all the calories that MFP alotts to me. I usually stay about 200 to 500 lower on days when I work out and stick right around 1200 on days that I don't. Actually, I dip lower than 1200 periodically but, as a fitness professional, I would not suggest that to you. Always consult a doctor before dropping below 1200. But the key is experimentation. It's a process. I have found over the years, that if when I'm training pretty hard, I eat about 1200-1500 calories...if I eat more, I will gain weight....I break even at around 1500....start losing at about 1350. The only time I increase my caloric intake is on long training days where I am burning 2000 to 4000cals. It could be, that like a lot of us, especially women with fluctuating hormones and such, just have sluggish metabolisms. I have friends that can eat right up to their alottment and lose weight. But I would gain on what they eat, even though we are doing the same workouts. I also have friend that have to do what I do to lose their weight. It is a constant battle for people like us, but keep up the good work. Also, consider the fact that you may be gaining muscle if you hav ebeen working out differently or harder in the last 3 weeks. Muscle weighs more than fat. Make sure your "meals" are about 2 to 3 hours apart several times a day. Good luck! Never give up!
Oh and I just noticed your diary is viewable....ok, I see you go with a lot of cheese and carbs. Less, lean meats and green veggies. One thing that can slow down our metabolism is not getting the proper nutrients and fiber from food. You caloric intake seems right on, but then I see WHAT you're eating and it leaves your body without some important stuff. Therefore, your body is storing what you DO eat in hopes of getting more of what it actually needs. I bet if you replace some of the startchy things like corn, breads and fatty things like mayo and cheese, with fresh fruits, veggies (great for dipping in hummus) and get more lean meats, you will see changes.0 -
