calories burned for boot camp?

I do a boot camp class twice a week and my heart rate monitor varys for calories burned each class because some are more cardio then others and sometimes its more body weight strength classes.

I am just not too sure if the calories burned would be acurrate or should i be deducting some from the total burned?

I find the classes that are straight cardio might be pretty acurrate but the strength classes where we do more push ups, lunges and squat type exercises with short rest periods in between each set - my heart rate goes up and down and does not stay elevated for very long at a time.

Anyone have any suggestions?
Today i had a class and heart rate minitor showed 510 so i took off 100 calories from that total as we do mostly strength today.

I'm interested in this too as I will be starting boot camp in a few weeks although I have no HRM as yet :-)

my HRM varies just like yours for boot camp classes. For an hour class, if we focus more on strength, I'll burn anywhere around 450 - 525. But when it's mostly cardio, I have burned up to 630 before.

I don't understand why you are removing calories from your calorie burned total for class??

yes for straight cardio days the burn is alot higher - the reason i thought about taking some off the total for strength days was because my heart rate is not realy at a steady high and i figured when it was down they would be calories i would be burning even if i wasnt at boot camp?

I was wondering too. I do boot camp twice a week and it's knackering, but if you log circuits on here is comes out pretty low.

Don't take off calories just because your heart rate wasn't as high through the whole class. You are still burning calories, you just may not be in the "fat burning" zone the entire time. Calories are calories. You will burn less calories with strength training than with cardio, but you need a good combination of both.
