What is your dream job?

Actually, it's funny.. I always wanted to be a chemist.. but having a very fragile child when I was 23 derailed my college plans. It also put me right where I needed to be career-wise. I already had a science degree when I had her, and then she was so hard to keep alive the first two years.. we had to give shots, drop NG tubes, watch for signs of acidosis.. it's a lot for a new young mom to learn, and the curve was steep. But the town I lived in had an excellent nursing school and tuition was dirt cheap. I enrolled there just to have a very portable skill until I could go back to my first love -chemistry. I graduated 10 years ago from nursing school and have worked as an RN ever since. I love my job, and am very good at it. I no longer want to go back to college, the chemistry degree is useless for me now, seeing as how I have a job always in demand, good pay and benefits. I can do my job literally anywhere in the world and being an experienced nurse, I can pretty much set my shedule and pay as well. So what used to be my dream isn't anymore, and I feel like I am now 'living the dream'.0

It's a dream I'm turning into a reality. I would like to become a Certified Diabetes Educator. My son has Type 1 and his CDEs have been our life savers (even more so than the doctors!). I start January 20th to get my RN, and then I have to have 1,000 hours of hands-on diabetes care in order to sit for my CDE. It is going to take me probably 4 years, but so worth it.0

I want to work in non-profits that aim to better women's lives. I am leaving it as open as that at the moment. I don't work right now, but I am going to school and volunteering to reach that goal. I'm aiming to let my feminist ideas guide my career path.0
