Need to Lose a little faster

Hi guys. I've been losing weight slowly, I gained like 30 ibs over the last year since I started fitness pal, then in the last three months ive lost 28, so I think my counter says 0IBS lost, but I have lost 28 in three months. Anyways, at my work they are doing a biggest loser competition. If I win, I win $1000. Quite a few people are competing (at least %30 of them are like 120 pounds or less, so I don't see them winning, they can't lose much more). The money will be given at the end of March, and I'm going on vacation in the beginning of April, so I really need to win that money, lol. I was just wanting a few tips if anyone had any, that weren't really bad extreme.
As of right now, I'm vegetarian and gluten free. I also only have sugar that is in fruit, none processed. I take probiotics, vitamin b-12, and a multivitamin each day. I drink only water or mintwater, or herbal tea. I'm not so big on working out. I try to, but it feels pretty much impossible when your 280 pounds. I don't know what I have left to do. I eat organic oatmeal every morning, then through the day a bunch of veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds, and a gluten free pasta or something for dinner most days. I get my protien in eggs and veggies. I'm just looking for a few tips if anyone has any, especially if its a way to work out, lol. I sit at a desk job for 8ish hours a day, so I've become quite lazy over the last year!
Thanks in advanced!

Do not try to lose too quickly even if there is money to be gained. Losing too quickly will increase muscle loss.
Eat within your calorie goal, plus exercise calories. Avoid consuming a lot of sodium. And exercise! Get out for a walk, go for a run, go up and down the stairs in your house multiple times, anything helps! Regardless of weight you can work out.0 -
Honestly you probably don't want my advice. I have lost 138 lb but I was more than happy to do it slowly over 5-6 years while eating meat, gluten, sugar, etc. I did lose something like 68 lb in a year (2013) but the rest was very slow and I personally prefer that...we're all different though & I guess if you're motivated by a contest it is different. I would not be motivated by a contest.
As for exercising at 280 lb I have been there and did tons and tons of walking, then eventually broke into "real hiking", stairs and trails and so on...and bicycling. I was at 267 when I started bicycling. I have never been to a gym so I am no help there but I'm sure others are willing to share their tips on that stuff.
I truly wish you the best.0 -
I do need to go walking I think. Its just so cold, lol. Also, I'm a vegetarian, I have been for a long time, that'll never change.0

Slow and steady wins the race, always!
You know the answer to this, just don't look for a quick out.0 -
I'd keep doing what you're doing. You seem to have a good grasp of what you need to do to lose, and I'd say 28lbs in three months is pretty quickly. Right before weigh in, you could look at some of the weightloss tricks people use at competitions (boxing, MMA, etc) to make weight. I sure won't be healthy, but for two days, you'll technically weigh less (it will all be water). Then after weigh in you can rehydrate and go back to your healthy eating habits.0

Oh yeah nothin' wrong with that! My husband is pescetarian so we eat mostly meatless meals at home.

My hubby eats mostly meat lol, I wish he'd eat more veggies. I have to cook two meals.

Thats a good idea, I'll check into that.

To lose quickly, you need a bigger calorie deficit. However, you should not eat less than 1200 calories per day. So, any deficit more than that gives you should be created with exercise. But that doesn't mean it is a good idea to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time, just that that is the way to do it if you are going to.0

I've lost 30 lbs in 1,5 months by sticking to my calorie goal to lose 2 lb/week. Did no exercise during that time. (SW: 281 lbs)0
