I'm a college student with about 15 minutes between classes and with three classes back to back over lunch time I get a little hungry.

Need some ideas for some non-crunchy snacks to take in my backpack that I don't have to be a ninja to eat in class. Please help! I had a package of crackers the other day and it was the loudest thing ever...

Are parboiled or partially steamed vegetables and option? That way they still have a bit of texture, but aren't raw/crunchy. I bring those to work so that no one has to hear me crunching. I think that's rude, so good for you for being concerned about this.

Dried fruit may be an option, but it's pretty high in sugar. Let me see if I can think of anything else...

Or string cheese. Just thought of that one, but not sure how long it can stay fresh when not in the fridge.

Citrus fruits and grapes are soft, but again, high in sugar.

Hard boiled egg (smell might be an issue though), string cheese/babybel, deli meat rolled up, yogurt, soft granola bar or protein bar.

If keeping things cold is a concern for you, you can throw these into a small insulated lunchbox with an ice pack.

Low carb: Beef jerky.. String cheese (individually wrapped) grapes, pepperoni, also a lot of the diet(since I don't know what diet you're on) are chewy rather than crunchy..,Since you mentioned chips.. If you're low calorie try a banana..

Agree with a high fiber and/or high protein bar of some kind (just unwrap it in the hallway before you go in! lol). I think that has the best combo of portability/keeping fresh, low odor/crunch factor, and good likelihood of actually filling you up a bit. Quest is good but pricey (and, IMHO, gross, but I know I'm in the minority there), or there are tons of higher fiber and protein granola bars out there now. I love the Trader Joe's Fiberfull ones.
