Pushups & Situps - How many calories are burned?

How many calories are burned by doing pushups and situps? I read that you can count 1 calorie per pushup and 0.6 calories per situp. I've been trying to do 200 pushups and situps a day so I'd add that I burned 200 + 120 calories. Been on the diet and exercise for 46 days, with my net calories almost always at 1200 a day (4 days I was over, but 6 I was under). Not lost any weight though, so I'm thinking that I'm not burning as many calories as I think doing pushups and situps. Any recommendations for better calculating calories burned? Thanks.

for me, i would count those a strength exercises here on myfitnesspal... and they really dont "burn calories"; that's what cardio is for.... however, those are still good because it builds muscle, which means you burn more cals at rest...

You are burning calories, but it will really vary depending on the intesity, your weigh and physical condition, which is why most times these nubers are hard to find, they vary too much. If you really want to know, buy a heart rate monitor.

Depends on how hard to go at them...it's not a huge amount since you're not working any large muscle groups. "Calisthenics (pushups, sit-ups)" is one of the standard MFP cardio categories, but that entry is for *really* pounding them out. "Calisthenics, home" is more conservative.

Personally, I wouldn't eat back the calories -- the net is so low it's, at best, a buffer against over-eating (assuming you're not hard-core weighing all of your food).
