10kg to lose in 20 weeks. Possible?

Hi there,

I have already lost 10kg since July last year, just by changing my lifestyle - exercising more , usually 4-5 times a week and trying to eat clean (and keeping to 1200 cals a day) for 6 days a week.

I did drop off on the eating over the last few months, still good most of the time but not as strict as I had been and luckily still managed to keep dropping some weight, albeit it slowly.

I would like to lose another 10kg by the end of May as I will be going home for my brother's wedding and would like to be looking good. If I do lose 10kg, it will be the lightest I've ever been so really want to get there.

Do you think it's possible? It's roughly 0.5kg a week which seems manageable? I just don't want to do some fad diet and cut out any food group as I know I won't sustain that in the long term, but do you think it is do-able by continuing with the 1200 cals / clean-ish eating and exercising, especially since I have already lost 10kg I am thinking I might find it hard to lose the next 10kg?

Thanks for your help

Yes, this is possible. Just create a deficit of 500 (-20% of your TDEE).

    What does TDEE mean?

TDEE is your Total Daily Expenditure Energy. Go here: http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/

It's the amount of calories your body needs to maintain its weight, taking in to account your activity level etc.

I am aiming to try and lose 12kgs in the next 12 weeks and not sure if I'll do it but I'm going to try. I have changed my diet and started logging calories, changed my macros so I'm eating lower carbs and more protein and I'm also working out 6 days a week. If I can keep that up I reckon I might have a good chance of getting there.

Yes it's possible but unfortunately most of it will be muscle. 1 kg muscle contains 80% water which is 800g. So there are only 200g of protein in one kg of muscle, which represents 1200 kcal. Loosing muscle is the main reason why people loose weight FAST. Exercising is not enough, you have to do weight lifiting, not too often and not too long but intensively and mind your post workout nutrition

What are your current stats (height/weight)? 0.5kg/week is aggressive considering that you only have 10kg left to lose, but not impossible. What's going to make it difficult is that you're already at 1200 calories and shouldn't drop your calories any more. Weight loss typically slows down as you reach your goal, and you're asking if you can lose the next 10kg faster than you lost the first 10kg. You can absolutely lose a big chunk of that in 10 weeks, but I wouldn't set my heart on it. Your body may or may not cooperate.

I'm trying to lose 12kg by March 15th. I think it's possible. Working out 6 days a week. Healthy eating. What do you guys think?

I'm quite tall, almost 6ft and also quite heavy haha. I've been told I look a lot heavier than what I am. I carry most of my weight on my bottom half, and of course, while I have lost some inches on my bottom half, most of it has been on my top half unfortunately.

I am hoping that because I have lost most of the weight on my top half now, that finally my bottom half will begin to slim down. I don't want to cut my calories really as 1200 is already quite low and as I said, I'm seeing this as more of a lifestyle change so I don't want to do something that I can't sustain.

I did begin lifting (only up to 35kg so far ha) and do some bodypump and toning classes. To lose the weight from my bottom half, should I up my cardio? Cardio wise I'm not great. Running is my nemesis. I can't do it!

Interval training is a lot more effective and you'll switch between resistance moves and cardio, the best part is an intense 20 minute work out will give you better results than a 45 min jog

Yeah I've been interval training too, just not running :) Suppose I will just keep on doing what I have been doing then! Thanks for your help
