Thanks for sharing your stories! I'm glad you guys are ok.
I'll be keeping an eye on this just in case, but with no fainting spells or unusual fatigue, I suspect that my cardiologist was right, and my heart is super healthy. I have no problem getting my heart rate up when exercising, and it recovers quickly. I've considered getting my thyroid checked as well, but I'm not having any other issues, so it seems like a waste right now.
Meanwhile, for those of you still getting checked out, let us know how your tests come out!0 -
Great news!
Abbey - I also have a chd that was discovered at birth, an atrial/septal defect. It was repaired with open heart in 1984. I'm guessing you're younger than me?I've done those stress tests a few times, so I relate to your goal of kicking it's butt. Good luck!
Hi! Yes, I was born in/had my first two surgeries in 1994. From what I've read, we were among the first people to even have the option of surgery as a treatment...which has always been really crazy to think about. But yes, I used to think of stress tests as just an hour of my life to get through and at least pass, but since I've been exercising consistently and gotten an HRM I have some specific goals forming. My test is in August so I have made it my goal to keep this lifestyle up at least through then, but with still having 7 months to go I know that if I do keep it up it will just be habit by the time I actually get to the test.
To the OP: So good to hear that everything is normal! It's always nerve wracking to have to deal with something as heavy as results from a test on your heart, but I'm sure the relief you felt after negated those feelings of worry as soon as you knew. Best of luck to you on the rest of your journey!0 -
I had something strange happen with my heart after the birth of my daughter, and still to this day, no one has been able to tell me what caused it. I had some pretty severe tachycardia when I was pregnant and even just after she was born. They even did an echo of my heart about a day after I had my daughter as my heart rate would not slow down. They thought I was going into heart failure. Well, they sent me home as the test was fine, and I decided to lose some weight to improve my health.
About a week after coming home from the hospital, my heart rate switched and was extremely low. My resting heart rate was in the low 40s. I couldn't even lay down without getting dizzy. I had to sleep sitting up at least part way. The doctor told me that heart rate is fine for someone in good physical shape. He said he was a runner and his resting rate was in the 40s or low 50s, but that was not normal for me and I was not even close to being a runner...or athletic at all for that matter.
Eventually, after a couple of months, my heart rate normalized and has been fine ever since. So the issue, whatever it was, resolved on its own. That was almost 13 years ago, and I haven't had the problem since. I do have PVCs (feel like fluttering/skipped heart beats), but I have had those since my early 20s with no major issues. It still happens occasionally and is a bit unsettling, but the doctor assured me it's fine. I have worn a halter monitor a couple times since my 20s and it's always checked out okay. This may not be of much help, but I just wanted to let you know it very well could be nothing serious. I'm glad you're getting it checked and hope everything turns out okay.0 -

Saw this after I made my post. Great news.Glad everything is okay.

I've had heart issues(diagnosed about 10-15 years ago), now just minor. I've had an enlarged right side of my heart and 3 valves not working properly, now I have just one not working properly and that is only minor and no longer enlarged heart. I also have low resting heart rate in the upper 40's, cardio doctor didn't seem concerned about it.0

Went to cardiology today, repeat each shows still sinus rhythm (normal) and advised that hr would be ok if not symptomatic. However feel very short of breath on very minimal exertion, light headed and tight chest as well as fluttering sensation / palpitations. Had bloods taken for thyroid and booked for exercise tolerance test and 24 tape. They think it's probably a viral infection. Just been googling and hoping Will resolve on its own. Been signed off work for another 2 weeks.0
