Help required to start focussed on starting a fit lifestyle. I do make lots of excuses for not doing workout and miss weeks, months and living in sedentary lifestyle. How can I concentrate and stay focussed? I know I can only helpout myself but could not :( do it..
Any suggestions for a focused start??

    ^^^^above,
    Treat it like an appointment.
Pay for classes then you will turn up rather than waste money.
Fine yourself if you don't go.
Tell yourself it is only an hour out of your day, and it it worth every second.

    Cheers, h.

Remember the benefits of exercise, and remind yourself daily why it needs to be done. Maybe find some reaffirming mantras to help you get through them. For example, "Work out like your life depends on it, because it does." Good luck on your journey!
  • I struggled with this for so long and people keep telling me to do something I love and it didn't work cause if it was exercise I don't like it lol
What works for me is the reality that it takes 20 seconds to make the right choice.
The second you decide you are going to exercise just do it, don't think about it. It actually becomes ALMOST as easy to say yes as it does no. I say yes to everything now.... Driving past the gym or a park and sometimes I even say no not going but make the decision to drive in anyway and go upstairs or start walking around the park and what do you know I'm exercising. It seems ridiculous but it really is a battle with my mind, excuses are the bane of my life so now I don't plan to exercise but when the free time comes up that I knew I had, I make a 20 second decision to start exercising and before I know it it's been half an hour. I started just walking around my house and local parks and the streets but dad asked me to go to the gym yesterday and I didn't want to go but said yes, once I was there I worked my bum off (well I will eventually lol)
It's bloody hard so just do it and do it begrudgingly if you have to, I have to, piss and whinge about it the whole time haha but it gets done.

Maybe think of exercise like work. You have to work in order to pay bills etc. So when you really don't feel like going, you go anyway because you have to if you want to be able to keep paying those bills.

Replace the word "work" with "exercise" and replace the words "pay bills" with "reach goals".

Yes there are serious consequences to not paying bills that keeps you going. Think if the serious consequences of not exercising. While not as immediate as not paying bills, the consequences are still there in regards to your overall health in later life.

Or.. like what you need to do. And dislike what you don't need to do.. like Facebook, watching TV, and other distractions that have trained you dislike taking action. Raise your expectations of yourself. Tony Robbins is good at explaining how to change:

I got a trainer to keep me accountable.

I will say that even with a trainer I have to treat my workouts like an appointment. It's an appointment to keep myself healthy. Also find something that is fun for you. Dance class, kick boxing, cycling etc.

    Good luck!
