Hiiiiiii!

I'm Sirobe! And I'm a hybrid of this & that: southern belle/bella di milano, architect/urban planner, artist/writer, pianist/drummer, liberal/conservative, student/teacher... I'm easy and laid back, but super pumped about this fitness. So if you're with me, friend me, and let's make it happen!

I'm new to myfitnesspal! I like it already. I've used loseit.com before; it was okay. No complaints. I just have at least someone I know AND that uses this app here.

I have a question. So myfitnesspal doesn't factor in the calories used for strength training? It just factors in cardio calories. Please explain if you know why. Thanks!

    Hi Welcome to MFP!

I usually add Strength training into my cardio, you should be able to search it on the database. If you individually add exercises, it doesn't know how long you did those exercises for, therefore it wouldn't be able to calculate a caloric burn. For example, you may have completed your exercises over 1 hrs vs 30 mins and the caloric burn would be different based on your exertion and effort. hOpe this helps!

    Welcome!

I sure don't know why . . .but when I need to know my burn I use a HRM during the workout. I do more strenght training than cardio, so I'd love to have an easier way to estimate.

It's under strength ^^ But the thing to bear in mind with strength training is that the real benefit is that you burn extra calories after strength training and it raises your metabolic rate!

There is a strength training category under the cardio menu, but I find it to be inaccurate. My HRM tells the story:) welcome to mfp!
