Okay I have a confession I am addicted to the energy I get from the Monster rehab energy drink. Its almost as expensive at crack lol. Can someone suggest a good energy source other then coffee (cant stand it) I tried to go without it (Monster drink) for two days and I felt horrible and had hard time working out. Thanks for your help and feel free to add me as a friend, we are in this together.

I love Monster too. I also like rooster booster lite from QT, but it is not much better on the health scale! I have no answer.0

you sound like my husband! lol i don't know of a good substitute other than to wean yourself off of the energy drinks so that your body is no longer dependant on them just to get to your normal baseline energy. once your body readjusts and your brain chemistry is back to normal you won't need the drinks to feel energized. i do recommend some kind of work out in the morning for a boost of energy that won't load you down with sugar and god knows what else! good luck!0

Unsweetened green tea? That's my favorite caffeine source (although I've been trying to go without *sigh*), especially iced.0

Have you tried FRS drinks (sponsored by Lance Armstrong)... it's loaded with anti-oxidants, very little caffeine so you don't get a horrible "down" from it... I highly recommend it health wise over any energy drink out there! Go luck with finding what works!0

I love monster too...i get whatever is sugar free or calorie free on sale...or the 0 calorie 5 hr energy drinks or monster ZERO just limit it dont cut it out0

The problem is, you've probably become a little addicted to the chemicals in the energy drink. Until your body kicks that addiction, not drinking something with those same chemicals is going to make you feel lousy and lethargic. I speak from experience. I used to drink Diet Coke all day long and never drank water. When I decided to give up caffeine cold turkey (on my doctor's advice for a medical issue), I suffered from horrible headaches for a good week or two. It was miserable and I wouldn't recommend that route to anyone.
You should wean yourself off slowly. You're right that substituting something, preferably with less caffeine, is probably the best way to go. Just don't trade one addiction for another! Regular or diet colas are probably a good substitute while you're trying to kick the habit. They still have caffeine, just not as much. I still usually have one in the morning, since I don't drink coffee either, and that's my only one of the day. Good luck!0 -
I go for the sugar free red bulls. It gives me energy but the smallest one has 10 calories, the medium one has 15 calories in it. And you can buy in bulk. I'm a college student and it's finals week so I know I'll be getting a ton of them lol0

You could try that 5 hour energy stuff instead. I have a coworker that swears by it.0

I personally like liquid vitamin B12...helps tremendously. If you look, things like 5hour energy shots are loaded with B12. I find it better just to do the sublingual. But you will have a few crash days regardless...but if you are crashing that badly, imagine what it is doing in reverse to your body when you are on a high!0

Thanks for the help. Most sugar free energy drinks give me heart burn. I do need to get off them just love the perk. I may try the 5 hour route and see. Also like the b-12 idea. Thank you so much0

The rehab is good but a lil sweet.
I LOVE the absolute zero one. Tastes great and you take lil to no hit on cal and sugar...
They make these crazy nitrous ones also. They are so fizzy they make me gag! :huh:

Get the Crystal Light energy drink mixes that you can put in a water bottle. It gives you a little kick without wiring you for hours, plus it tastes good and you get more water in your system!0

I've drank "FRS" occasionally for a boost when I just can't get movin'. It comes in different flavors, fruit flavors, and you don't get the jitters at all. check out their website www.frs.com

I traded in my Java Monster for either Chai Tea (mild boost) or the 5 Hour Energy (bigger boost) and am much happier for it. Tried the 5 Hour driving back from Baltimore because the store did not have any Mean Bean Java Monster. Much better results! I was alert without being jittery, and less trips to the grils room. Sometimes we get used to the "negative" effects and think what we are doing isn't working because we aren't hyper or have to hit the head often. My road trips have 'sold' me on the 5 Hour Energy.0 -
Yep, B-12, a banana and just a bit of OJ about 30 minutes before my workout does the trick. Cutting out the energy drinks WILL suck for about a week or so but you WILL feel better afterwards!0

You could order caffeine powder online. A bottle that will last over a year is around $80
