Weight Watchers and Soda/Candy

Dear Weight Watchers (WW) success stories,

Have any of you succeeded in losing 1-2 lbs each week while following WW but still eating a candy bar or drinking a non-diet soda? I am just starting WW and I can't seem to give up my daily soda and/or candy bar. But if I do eat one of those (soda or candy) I can still stay at my 26 points, I just have to be strict, eat lots of salads with lemon, lean meats etc. Plus a light workout. What do you think?

Thanks!

Using MFP you'd be counting calories, not points. As long as the candy bar and soda fit into your calorie goal for the day there is no real reason you can't have them. You just might be more hungry than if you'd saved those calories for something more filling.

Personally, I'd rather drink something without calories and have a small piece of chocolate or two rather than a whole candy bar but that's just me. I'm short and don't have a lot of calories to play around with. :)

WW uses points (50 calories = 1 point), which I suspect is so people won't stress over weighing every little bite of food, but there's no reason why you can't eat candy and stay within your points.

The new points calc is a lot different. You can't really estimate points by "50 calories = 1 point" anymore. Now 1 point can range from the 20s to the 70s, based on the macros of the food, though 40 is a closer guess now than 50.

But yeah, if it fits in your points (or your calories), it fits in your plan and shouldn't stop you from losing.

I lost on WW. Ate candy and diet soda etc.... Lost 60+ I would say don't limit your self to not having something. Just limit the amount. WW you could eat popcorn, candy, soda and salad all day but not healthy. I like MFP because of the macro counting. I feel it helps you eat better and keeps you more full.

I drink diet soda and I occasionally have a Reese's cup and maybe a real soda if I feel like it but it's not something you can finally the time because it will up your points fast but occasionally it's ok

If these are things that you want on occasion, you can always dip into your weekly points and use them on these items. I did when I was on WW and didn't have any issues with losing.

If you are looking for WW members to connect with, it may be a good idea to join the WW group on here. They will be able to give you better answers if you ever have more specific questions.

I did! I am a quality (taste) over quantity (a huge bowl of salad) type person. Whats the point in eat something you don't time just because it's less in points/calories. If I'm craving In N Out or a candy bar I'm going to eat it...even if it means I'm going to have to hut the gym for 30 extra minutes or have a smaller dinner. I lost 60 pounds doing WW a fey years ago and I ate anything and everything I wanted. Now granted I did gain it back but that was more because I was going through a divorce and counting points just went out the window because I was stressed.
