Should I be worried?

Ok, I have fiber as something that i measure in my diary but i always seem to go over a bit. I cant help it. Lots of the fruits and veggies i love are high in fiber and they help me stay full. Ive never had any issues with fiber or anything like that. So im wondering what drawbacks are there if i go over on fiber?
:ohwell:

I don't think there is any problem with going over a bit (except maybe more gas).
  • Fiber is awesome- and dont worry if you go over- drink plenty of water!

I agree I think too much fiber is okay it might make you uncomfortable though like the other's said. Drink plenty of water!

I've noticed that on my list of goals, the fiber goal is actually lower than what I have read is actually recommended. I have read in several sources that 25 g should be the goal. I always go over too, but I agree, as long as you're drinking plenty of water (which fruits and even some veggies are already full of) you should be fine.

There have been a bunch of studies recently about the massive health benefits of extra fiber in your diet. I doubt going a little over the daily allowance will hurt you, and it will probably be pretty good for you long term.

Fiber is awesome because the more fiber you eat, the more you poop! The more you poop, the less you weigh! It also means your body's digestive system is acting efficiently!

No seriously.. I'm not trying to be gross, but almost nothing is more satisfying than, well.. you know.
  • I am always way over on fiber by choice as I was having constipation issues otherwise. I drink tons of water every day and it works well for me.

Fiber should be one of the red items in your list.

With fiber those numbers are the minimum you should get a day, not the maximum like other things. Especially if it's coming from whole foods don't even think about worrying over the amount of fiber being too high. That's one area where it's good to be over.

There are various diets that recommend 25 to 35g of fiber daily for good weight loss and digestive health. So unless you're eating truly massive amounts of fiber, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Listen to your body; it should give definite signs if it's too much fiber for you to handle personally.
