Hi all!
I'm starting my student teaching in an ELL classroom this semester and I'm nervous about finding the time to meal plan, workout, plan my lessons, AND do grad school work. Looking for some other teachers/students for motivation and support during this tricky time. I'm heading in the right direction and I don't want to lose track of my goals. Feel free to add me or I will add you

I did a five-week prestudent teaching block last semester. My placement was an hour away from where I live, so I left at 6:20 every morning and got home close to 5, then had two online classes and a night class to deal with on top of lesson plans. It's an insanely busy time.
I did almost all of my exercising on the weekend. I found it hard to exercise after spending all day on my feet, so I usually didn't, unless I treated myself to extra snacks. I usually ate cereal or oatmeal for breakfast, a salad or a small sandwich with fruit for lunch, then some kind of protein with veggies for dinner. I was STARVING when I got home because my lunch was at 10:45, so usually dinner was my biggest meal. I managed to avoid late-night snacking because I went to bed at like 9:30 every night.
I guess what I'm saying is that you should do what works best for you. If you're feeling totally overwhelmed and exhausted, don't go to the gym. I know your health is important, but this semester is a huge deal for you, so your students and your classroom experience need to be your first priority. Count your calories, exercise when you can, and get the most out of this semester. Good luck!!0 -

Currently weekends are my time off from working out, but I think that you're right and they will soon become my time to workout. Thankfully I live close to school and only have 2 night classes (one being my practicum class) but it's going to be a very very busy semester.
You're totally right though, this experience is super important and I need to put all my energy into it. I've only got one chance to practice before I apply for a job, so it needs to be good!

I'm a para at a local high school working with EL and Special Ed students, and am currently in the process of getting back to school to finish my degree. I also coach, so that takes up a lot of my time so I completely understand where you are coming from. Biggest thing I find, and my biggest problem when I don't do it, is making time to meal plan/prep. It's so much easier to stay on track once you have that done.
